Vivid picture of Paris from Alice Furlaud,
By Jessica Weissman "poet and computer programmer" (Silver Spring, MD USA) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Air Fair: Alice Furlaud's Dispatches from Paris (Paperback)
If you remember Alice Furlaud's many radio pieces for NPR from the 80s and 90s, this book is for you. It holds a generous pile of transcriptions of those essays, revised a bit for the page as necessary. Some pieces for other outlets are here too, so don't assume you've heard it all before. Her voice is intact, and her observant and original point of view as well. Nearly as enjoyable on the page as over the air. |
