4.0 out of 5 stars a book that needed to be written for a long time
Although there have been many books written about US air force Ops very little has ever been written about the Combat control teams and para rescue components of this force. This book finally covers it in excellent detail. Also gives good coverage of the fly component of the air commandos, although some information is inconsitent, or dated, there has been very little...

3.0 out of 5 stars USAF Special Ops
A good book that is primarily focussed on Special Tactics Teams. The author's data was old in some areas, and many pictures were staged, which diminishes the quality of the book. More "action" photo's, and more pictures of the uniques equipment used by STT's would have been better.

Although there have been many books written about US air force Ops very little has ever been written about the Combat control teams and para rescue components of this force. This book finally covers it in excellent detail. Also gives good coverage of the fly component of the air commandos, although some information is inconsitent, or dated, there has been very little of such good quality written about the Air Force special ops community. Great complement to the books that preceded it such as "From a Dark Sky" "That Others May Live" " Air Commando One" and "Any Time any Place"

4.0 out of 5 stars The most complete coverage of AF Special Ops to date, October 3, 2000

I have read every book on Air Force Special Ops, and by far this is the most current and illistrative. While the photos may be staged, considering the secret nature of Special Ops, real-time photos may not even exsist, let alone be de-classified: they are very illistative of many aspects of operations. There are so many books about SEALS, Special Forces, Rangers, etc. and AF SpecOps is so overlooked, it is about time they get some equal time. This book is the best I have seen, to date.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book to buy for info on USAF special operations, October 6, 2000

Finally a book on everything about PJ's and CCT from their extensive training, the pipeline, to future mission profiles. Better, more in-depth info than I have ever found on the net. But this is just half of this book. If your looking for info about the planes, helos, jets and their capabilities this is the book you're looking for

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, February 18, 2007
This review is from: U. S. Air Force Special Ops (Power) (Paperback)
This book was pretty good, but a good portion of the information you can find on the internet. There's still a bunch of info anybody can get out of this book, and I definitely learned a few things.

5.0 out of 5 stars As in depth and accurate as the DOD will allow, May 21, 2003

While my son is pictured in the book in his capacity as an STS operator, there's only so much he can tell me without violating his security clearance. He cannot discuss with whom he operates, where he's going/been or what he's done. However, from what he has been able to say, this book is right on. It's been my window to his world. The multiple skill sets they possess, the types of operations conducted, and the the levels of dedication and courage they display are amazing. There names and faces will only be known after something went wrong. Read it! Believe it!

This book is very informative to anyone looking to get into the world of Air Force Special Tactics Teams. Allows you to see what the jobs are of these brave individuals, and what you must endure during the riggors of earning the title of combat controller or a "pj". Although I do believe the past standards in this book are the older ones and they have been changed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great read for history, but information is slightly dated., May 16, 2010

This review is from: U. S. Air Force Special Ops (Power) (Paperback)
This was a great book to learn a lot of the history about Combat Control Techs. and Para Rescue men. Very good information about some of the operations these men conducted and participated in, and how they became to be what they are today. The only problem I could find with the book itself was that much of the PAST and entrance information is different today than when printed, but can easily be found at an recruiters office or on the internet.

Kudos to Mr. Pushies for his in-depth analysis of the US Air Force Special Ops. Reading the book, the reader can only tell that this book was a passion for Mr. Pushies to write. The subject matter itself was in need of a publication detailing its merits.
