I purchased this from Wal-Mart without looking at ratings or anything. The Idea behind it is so cool that I just had to have it. Please note I am not a kid - I am in my late 20's haha, so it's fun even for us "grown up" kids :-)

This is my first RC chopper, so please note that as FYI.

Here is how I rate each function, so you can see if it's right for you.

Flying - Awful (1 out of 5 stars)

This is the most basic chopper and I know that it takes patience and skill to learn to fly any of them. However, this thing is not stable in the air, and getting it to hover is impossible. Maybe if it had Quad rotors or a small side-ways rotor in the back (like big helicopters and some "hobby grade" units do) it could hover. Hovering is very important because this cool toy can shoot from the remote, so if you want to shoot in the air and hit a target it needs to be very stable, allowing you to aim. FYI a lazer pointer would be nice too - I would pay an extra $20 if this thing was more stable and had a lazer pointer.

Hopping - Pretty Good (3 out of stars)

Hopping is good because he doesn't stay in the air too long and you can somewhat choose his direction. Hopping is really cool (small distances only) since he can get onto surfaces other RC's might not. 3 out of 5 stars because if he was inherently more stable, you could make him hop much higher distances.

Driving - Good (4 out of 5 stars)

The wheels don't move themselves, its the rotors that create enough force to move the assault vehicle in any direction (except reverse) without lifting it off the ground. Its really cool to be able to do this with a helicopter and after some practice its allot of fun.

Shooting - Very Good (4.

My 9-yr-old used his birthday $$ to buy this product two days ago. It was used properly (never outside, did not hit any ceiling fans, no one sat or stepped on it), but on the 2nd day developed a problem with the interior gears in the vehicle. Called Air Hog (Spin Master), and they totally took care of the problem. Apparently this is a new toy, so we're sending it back to the company free of charge to their QC department. They are sending us a brand-new one. Hopefully this one will last longer than two days!!

My grandson wanted this toy for his birthday which was on December 6th.
He was very happy to get it, he is having fun, but can't get it to fly. he says it does fly, but he can't get it to fly when he is playing with it. He is 12 and says the problem is his, it flies, he just hasn't the skill to get it to do so. I do wonder why that is, and if it really will fly. He is very happy and loves to run it along the floor, when he attempts to get it up it crashes. It has not broken, so it is pretty durable. It does have a short play time before needing to be charged, and a really long charge time. He is happy, but I would like changes. More play time and easier up in the air.

These broke the very first night of use. The propellers hit the wall and broke and they didn't fly correctly after that.

Excellent! Rated for children 10 and up but even my 5 year old nephew is learning a lot of coordination playing with it.

I am sorely disappointed with this product. I figured for the price I was getting a top of the line product. This one will not fly and hardly moves. I will never buy an Air Hogs product.

Drives OK (kind of)? The "hop" button should be relabeled "flail around in mid air and land upside down." The missiles have a good 2-3 second delay from button press to fire... If the fire at all. Flight is terrible (think of a fly sputtering around after its been swatted a couple of times...) It's a great toy if you don't need all those fancy extra features like "takeoffs" "flight" "landing" and "turning."

Literally every single thing about it is terrible. Battery life is non existent, everything is made to break within the first 5 minutes of use, and, worst of all... It is impossible to fly. Light wind, no wind, indoors, outdoors, forget it. Save your money. Heck, set your money on fire and you'll get more entertainment value than you will put of this.
