3.0 out of 5 stars Air Hogs Vectron
I bought this for my 8 year old nephew. It was fun to play with but the material was very cheap and not durable at all. For the price I paid, they should have some spare parts or add a few more saucers.

I was puzzled initially when I saw so many reviews for Air Hogs products saying that the battery life was very short. We never had this problem. Then I finally realized what the difference is (or at least what I think it is). DO NOT use regular AA or AAA batteries with these toys. Those batteries do not have adequate juice for these toys and will, as posted by other reviewers, last only a couple of minutes. The solution? BUY RECHARGEABLE AA batteries! We use the Sanyo Eneloop ones. The rechargeable batteries pack so much more punch, you will get a significantly longer play time with these toys.
As for a review of this product - we happened to come across it at Toys R Us. Picked it up and it is truly a great toy. Very unique concept, another innovative product from Air Hogs. It lasts at least a good 15 minutes or so before requiring a recharge (charged with the Eneloop batteries). The only concern I have with this toy is that as the battery becomes weak, the fan keeps rotating at full speed, but the toy does not fly higher if you put your hand under it. I am concerned that it might cut our son's finger - hasn't happened so far. I am guessing it has some sort of trigger which stops the fan if it comes across resistance, it does stop if I put my hand in there, but I'm not sure if a 3-year old's hands can provide adequate resistance for the fan to stop. And I don;t even want to try, so we just be careful when the battery is becoming weak and put it to recharge.

My son wanted the Aig Hog Vectron Wave after seeing it advertised on TV. We purchased it from Amazon and saved over $14 in total for the item and shipping. The item really works as advertised and it's really cool.

I have wasted tons of money on Air hogs toys including Switch Blade, and Helicopters etc., Vectron wave actually works like it says with out knowledge of "trim" and maintenance/repairs before first flight.
So what if it just goes up and down, all the other toys I got did the same, except they were supposed to fly! This one is actually fun!
I Hate Air Hogs, but I love Vectron Wave...and more importantly, my son loves it!
Only down side is if it does actually crash and flip over, use cation & watch your fingers!as the blade hurts! lol

I bought this for my granddaughter for her birthday and it was the hit of the party. It is a really neat toy and even the adults were having fun with it. I recommend it highly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great alternative to R/C helicopter for preschooler, January 10, 2011
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Air Hogs Vectron Wave Blue (Toy)
My husband and 6 year old son are really into their R/C micro helicopters, and love flying them together. Until now, my 4 year old has only been able to watch, as flying the helicopters requires more fine-motor coordination than he has at this point. When it came around to Christmas, he told Santa he wanted nothing more than an R/C helicopter to fly with dad.

After doing a ton of research, we settled on the Air Hog Vectron. It flies just like dad's helicopter, but is very simple to control. My son is thrilled with it, and plays with it daily. He has a bit of trouble figuring out how to charge it himself - the switches are very, very small and you need to switch both the remote and the saucer to 'charge'. But he is able to turn the saucer on, control it with his hand, and use the 'kill' switch when needed all by himself.

For someone ready to fly an R/C helicopter or plane, this toy is probably not going to cut it. You are only able to control its up and down movement - if it moves horizontally, that is just by chance. However, for a preschooler or young elementary school student who isn't quite ready to manage the controls of an R/C helicopter, this is a great alternative.

This was a gift for my 7 year old grandson. He was very happy with it. It works just like it shows on t.v.. Unfortunately, after ordering it I found it a Target for $[...]. But it seems like a pretty cool toy. I was worried about it knocking things over in the house, but it doesn't. It is safe for indoor play.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not made Well and breaks very easily, November 12, 2011
= Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Air Hogs Vectron Wave Blue (Toy)
This product is fun but is not made well at all. You have a one in ten chance of your Vectron Wave of actually working and if it does work when you first get it, it will break in the next week. I got one at first and it never charged correctly(got to fly it once then when it was out of batery couldn't be charged) so then I replaced it. I got my new Vectron but the blade was too low so when stated it would hit the floor breaking the blades even more. If you dropped the Vectron from the air it would stay about 7cm off the ground and would not go any higher. In total this toy was a waist of money and time. I would not by this for a dollar!

We bought this for our son's 10th birthday. Within 3 hours he said he was ready to take it back. It is really cool but it only works for 2-3 minutes and then you have to recharge it which takes up to 30 min. Not worth it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Extreamly Annoying, July 5, 2010
A Kid's Review
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Air Hogs Vectron Wave Blue (Toy)
I bought this for myself because the reviews were good and I had the money. Most of the reviews said the toy was amazing. Don't be fooled. The Vectron Wave has a battery that only lasts about 5 minutes! It doesn't respond fast enough when you put your hand under it so your fingers end up getting sliced by the blade. When it hits your hand it then goes crazy and flies all over the room hitting things. When it does that it breaks itself and your things. Dust and hair is always getting cought in the blades so you constantly have to stop and pull them out. On top of that it is loud, makes annoying sounds, and only goes up and down! I was very upset with this product. Air Hogs is a bad brand of toys. Never buy anything from them if you value saving money.
