worth every penny,

I paid $20 bucks for this when Cummins came to town several years ago...It is powerful and quite accurate for the price. I grew up with the Crossman Power masters in the 80's and have more fun with this rifle than anything in the past as a kid.. It is heavy and well built..Its not precision made like some of the more expensives air rifles but I have no complaints whatsoever for what I paid..

A real bargain!,

I was expecting a light weight with marginal workmanship, but was pleasantly surprised to receive a rifle as heavy as an M-1 carbine with solid wood stock and a very nice finish. It has plenty of power and very accurate. For under $20, you can't go wrong, PLUS no pumping!

A "good and bad" air rifle that ended up all bad for me,

THE GOOD NEWS -
1. It's only $20. 2. This air rifle pumps nicely with one lever motion. 3. It fires reasonably near the same spot with each shot. 4. It has decent velocity. I have a number of air guns and like another reviewer, I agree that this one is in the 750-800FPS range. 5. The wood and metal pieces are not as nicely finished as we are accustomed to but they are sturdy and tightly bolted together. Again, hey, for $20... From these basic observations it sounds as though it should be a decent air rifle. It's not. THE BAD NEWS - - 1. I could not get it's sights adjusted correctly. There was a limited range of movement and then after perhaps 30 shots the rear sight got wiggly. - 2. Since the sights were useless I tried to mount a scope. I took one off of another rifle and then a red dot sight off of an air pistol and neither would stay attached to this air rifle. The groove that is intended to hold a scope was not machined deeply enough to securely fasten the scope... at least on the one I got. I bought another scope at Gander Mountain that I hoped would work but while it was closer... it did not stay on the gun. - 3. The sense of "kick" on a spring operated air gun is simply the spring and piston that powers the pellet reaching the end of it's travel. On this gun the "kick" is significant to the point that it knocked that second scope that "just about stayed on" off of the gun every time. This "kick" may be what effected the sights as well. - 4. About the same time the sights were deemed useless the pumping lever that is supposed to stay up underneath the barrel would not stay up where it is supposed to. I tried tightening the clip but the metal was very soft and the lever was fairly heavy and the kick (again) was fairly significant to cause it to just hang down off the bottom of the barrel about 2 inches. Annoying. - 5. The trigger is downright crude. The trigger on my example was very stiff and I could not get used to feeling where it will fire. SUMMARY - Because of the price this air rifle is a bargain. Since I cannot hit anything with it and I have a rubber band around the barrel to hold the lever up it just doesn't work well enough to shoot it. This was a waste of money for me. The Chinese manufacturers and their Americna importers are both very fast learners. I've seen it with hand and power tools, scooters, and dozens of other items. I do not doubt that within a year this same manufacturer will be making a better air rifle than this one is right now. If you are in the market for an inexpensive but very good air rifle, I recommend the Crosman 760 PumpMaster. They are a well proven design that is low cost, reliable and accurate. They can shoot EITHER standard .177 pellets or standard .177 round BBs. They are well worth the little additional cost over this air rifle. On the down side the 760s are a multi-pump (rather than a single pump) design and they use more plastic than more expensive air rifles but they are highly functional and accurate air rifles for a low price.

First off, they shipped it super fast, great contact from this seller.
The gun itself is heavly, 9 pounds, mainly cause the wood stock. Its powerful, i like the single shot style. The only thing i didnt like was the rustic film that had to be claened off, but that didnt take too long. Just had to wipe down the metal parts. for the price, this gun is great. you can mount a scope as well which is cool, and single shot helps it stay accurate at over 500 FPS. My CO2 bereatta and 9mm can only manage 250-350. This high power spring beats them both.

I just ( 10/25/07) purchased one of these air guns. It was delivered very quickly (4 days) and in good condition. I have fired it only a few times straight out of the box, and am satisfied with the purchase. For ~$32.00 with shipping it seems like a good deal. If you are near a Cummins store and can get it with out paying shipping that would be an outstanding deal. This is an adult sized and hefty air rifle. It may best used as introduction (for an adult) to air guns before going out and buying a more expensive gun. Some cleaning to remove the rust preventive coating may be advised.
There is an astounding amount of information about this particular gun on the web, both on how to operate it and simple upgrades. Just search for B3 pellet gun or Cummins B3 also Industry B3 and you find much useful information. Taking the time to do that search will really help in deciding if this is a good fit for you. As noted in another review care must be taken when loading because if the trigger gets bumped and you are not firmly holding the cocking lever you could loose a finger if loading a pellet. Do not let the low price fool you, this is a fairly powerful gun and is not a toy. This should be purchased for adult use or adult supervised use as if it was a fire arm. I am not a air gun expert, that last air rifle I bought was over twenty years ago (a Daisy Power line 880 , which I still have).

Great gun just a little dangerous!!!,
This review is from: Air Pellet Rifle (Misc.)
I got this gun 4 dyas ago! Ever since I got it I didn't know how to load it.
Later I found out (with my friend's help) that you have to push the levr all the way back, and put the bullet in throw the hole located under the sliver sheet of metal. once I knew how to shoot it I shot lots of stuff. The first thing I shot was a can of tomatoe paste, and it wetn right throw the can and then hitt a can of soda going right throw! I mean in one side and out the other, it was crazy. After my dad saw what the gun did to the can he said he wanted to watch me when I shot the gun. This is the most powerful, cheapest, best gun I ever got. I really recomned this gun

Really! This gun is absolutely awesome! It is very powerful, and accurate as well. For $20 you would think that this is a piece of crap, but when i got this thing i was pleasantly surprised. From around 20 yards away, i was able to shoot an unopened can of soda-it went straight through the can, blowing it up in the process, and went into the plank of wood behind the can. If you own bb guns and have never tried a pellet gun. This gun is the way to go. I went through a whole bunch of bb guns, but they all look, feel, and preform like crap next to this thing.

Kicks and Hits like a mule!!!,

Extremely powerful rifle. Much more than I expected. It kicks when you pull the trigger and delivers a pellet with incredible velocity. It takes a lot of getting used to as it is a solid and heavy rifle which isn't easy to keep steady. With the weight and the kick it takes a lot of practice, muscle, and effort to keep it accurate. It tends to shoot high of the target as when the trigger is pulled it creates incredible inertia. Easy to use but must be handled with care and safety---it is NOT a toy!!!

I received this rifle a few weeks back and have put it through its rigors. Without going through a long explanation, here are what I found to be the pros and cons of this air rifle:
PROS: - Easy to use - Highly effective against birds; Capable of quick, one shot kills when using hollow point pellets - Can mount a scope with 3/8" rings - Cleaning is rudimentary - Price is outstanding for the product you receive - Generates recoil that simulates firing a real rifle CONS: - Comes absolutely filthy. Be prepared for extensive cleaning of the bore out of the box. Accuracy will greatly improve with bore cleaning. Covered in greasy protective coating. - The iron sights are cheap and useless. Nearly impossible to adjust the rear sight; held with cheap, non-fitting pin. Throw them away. - A bit heavy for a pellet rifle. Manageable with practice. - Not very effective at stopping birds with round or pointed tip pellets. Possibly due to the extra power from this spring fired rifle. Would advise against using anything but hollow points to avoid animal suffering. - Poorly constructed. Barrel and action are kept "sort of" in place by two phillips head screws. Hard to keep from coming loose. Loctite may assist with this problem. - Mounting a scope can be difficult to obtain and keep zero due to the above mentioned problem. - Generates own recoil (Pro or a Con, depending on user) CONCLUSION: - A great air rifle for plinking and minor pest control. Cocking the action takes some breaking in, but eases with time. Buy a scope with this if you intend to shoot straight. I'd recommend something over $10 dollars as keeping zero can become an issue with cheaper scopes. Be prepared for some cleaning and have your Loctite ready. Four stars because, despite the cons, you can't find a better rifle for $30 bucks. A great rifle for young children to start out with before moving to larger rifles. The weight and recoil can be used to help teach your child better shooting habits for the future. If you're thinking about it, buy this rifle. You will be pleased with what you get for the money.

SUPER POWERED RIFLE!!! FOR ONLY $ 20 BUCKS...WOW!!!!,

SORRRY TO SHOUT...LOL!!!...BUT THIS PELLET RIFLE IS FANTASIC!!!....
I WAS FLIPPED OUT AND AMAZED,BY THIS RIFLE, WHEN I TOOK IT OUT OF THE PACKAGE AND SEEN THE AWESOME SHINY WOOD AND DARK STEEL FINISH. THIS IS A SORT OF HEAVY MADE PELLET GUN, THAT SEEMS WELL MADE FOR THE PRICE. I MADE SURE TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS, FOR SAFETY REASONS, BECAUSE I'VE HEARD SO MUCH ABOUT THE DANGER OF LOADING THE GUN( CAN REALLY GET....UGLY!!!...FOR YOUR FINGERS ), IF YOU DON'T PULL THE LEVER BAR BACK, UNTIL YOU HEAR A CLICK, BEFORE STICKING YOUR FINGERS IN THE CHAMBER TO LOAD IT WITH A PELLET. PLEASE USE THE SAFETY, BY THE TRIGGER TOO. WHEN I DID LOAD IT AND PUT THE BAR BACK IN IT'S ORIGINAL POSITION, IT WAS READY TO FIRE. MAN, WHEN I PULLED THAT TRIGGER AND SHOT AT A OLD GLASS JAR, THIS THING WENT, " POWWWWWW " AND THEN THE CHAMBER AND BARREL WAS LITERALLY SMOKIN, LIKE THOSE OLD WESTERN MOVIE RIFLES. IT WAS ALMOST LIKE THIS THING WAS REALLY REAL....WOW!!!...IT BLEW THAT JAR UP. I'M USING CROSSMAN .177 CAL./4.5MM HUNTING PELLETS WITH THE POINT ON THE HEAD OF THEM. GREAT RIFLE...WATCH WHAT YOUR DOING...NOT A TOY!!!...BE CAREFUL!!! |
