Air Pop Rivet Gun

The air pop rivet gun works well and saves a lot of time when doing a lot of rivets. My first project was to assemble a bridge for a G scale model railroad which require several hundred rivets.

The instructions are minimal to nonexistant. Having never used a rivet gun, I had to go online to find suitable instructions. I found printed instruction and videos after some net searching.

The connector supplied with the rivet gun did not fit the snap connection for my compressor and I had to purchase an extra one. If you do not have a compressor setup for compressed air tools, such as a nail gun, you will have to rent or purchase a compressor, lines, and filters.

As I said, I never used a pop rivet gun before and the first rivet I tried jammed in the gun. So, I learned very early how to disassemble and reassemble the gun. The instruction supplied with the gun were pretty useless in helping me do this.

All in all it is a very useful tool and with a little experience can save a lot of time. It was relatively cheap compared to others I looked at and it does the job. My major complaint about this item was the lack of useful instructions and that I had to waist a lot of time searching online for something useful before I could use the tool.

Here's the good news- For the price was very surprised at the quality and operation! In fact the kit comes with key spare parts sufficient to make repairs a cinch, as well as prolong the life of the product.

Here's the bad news- the primary criticism is the Amazon Seller just passed through the product from the off-shore manufacturer [China?] to the Amazon Buyer, obviously without having looked into the package and checked for basics- like is it complete.
Here's what you get-

1. The gun is complete and ready to use from the box, including a poly-resin case, spare parts and breakdown tool, and paper graphic blow-up parts list.

2. BUT- there are no instructions- no instructions of any kind, so buyer is on her/his own. The Dealer has made the #1 no-no error for selling complex tools- they have assumed the Buyer knows their product and is familiar with it's operation. A product like this needs operational and PM instructions!

Note- this gun is ready to use out-of-the-box, but because there are no instructions you don't really know if it's operational!

Overall I'd give the product a 4 stars out of 5
