Nothing better than catching the rise.,
By Matt O "Matt O" (Brooklyn, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Air Stereo (Audio CD)
Being from Brooklyn myself, I feel a connection with this band.
But even if I wasn't from the Borough of Kings, I would find this album as a must have for all who appreciate real music. I have a different favorite song at lunch than I did on the drive to work this morning. Part of me can't wait to see this band inevitably rise to their deserved success, but the other part of me wants them all to myself and fans that have come across The Damnwells on their own search for great bands and music. Not a track I don't enjoy. Just buy it. Trust me. Matt O

Could this be my favorite cd EVER?,
By Good Listener (USA) - See all my reviews

The talent here is astounding. Just astounding. Lyrics to break your heart. Catchy to the nth degree. This is big, BIG music. Sounds like? Wow - every song is so different. I hear Queen, Whiskeytown, Lennon, Westerberg, Replacements, maybe a little G-n-R (uh-huh - that's right), Jakob Dylan (I've heard Bob in the Damnwells too, but not so much on this cd), Fleetwood Mac, Gin Blossoms, Goo Goo Dolls, Del Amitri & more. Start with "Golden Days", the single. It's infectious, well-written love. It moves you. Favorite lyric at the moment is from "Shiny Bruise", which is a startlingly sincere song: "For every time I doubted you, I give myself a shiny bruise." Wow. Where does that come from? Just amazing. The masses will be talking about these guys in a heartbeat. Hopefully, this is the future of music. I'm in.

WOW.,

This new album from the Damnwells is AAAAA-MAAAAAA-ZING!!! Every song could (and SHOULD) be a hit single! I am so happy that I came across this band. Their last record totally changed my life, and "Air Stereo" promises to do so as well. My favorite track so far is "You Don't Have To Like Me To Love Me." My favorite song on this record changes every day, though--they're all so GOOD!!! God Bless the Damnwells. Forever and ever, Amen. NOW BUY THE RECORD ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!

Ever better live,

I saw these guys last night at the Knitting Factory in NYC where they played most, if not all, of their new album. All I can say is even though the songs sound amazing on the cd they're a million times funkier live. Buy the cd. Then see them live.
You're welcome.

Should be much bigger, all over the radio,
This review is from: Air Stereo (Audio CD)
That these songs are not already all over radio proves that radio is bad for music. Good lyrics, great musicians, sincere, complex rock and roll that rarely sounds overdone. Buy Air Stereo, then buy Bastards of the Beat, then call your local radio station and get this music out there. I'm thinking Wild Stallions kind of world changing power here!

I listen to this CD a lot when I paint or do work around the house. The soundscapes are really genuine, and it has a really nice atmosphere and texture. The lyrics are like heartfelt poetry set to music. A really good listen, but not anything to write home about. I can't say I'd want to see these guys live, though I'd definitely buy another album of theirs.

I was nosing around for artists I had not heard and came across the Damnwells. Wow - was I surprised. I am a huge audiophile and lsiten to alot of stuff, I was very impressed with Air Stereo - keep coming back to it. As usual there are camps between this album and previous releases (which I have not listened to yet) - all I can say is this one hell of an album on all fronts and I am not one to give 5 stars easily...

outstanding album,
This review is from: Air Stereo (Audio CD)
after nearly wearing out PMR+1 and bastards of the beat, i bought this album the day it came out. great from the start...more mesmerizing enthralling music from this great brooklyn band. i didn't feel as strongly initially about this one coming from listening to 'bastards' a thousand times, but then again that's the same way it all started when bastards of the beat came out. now it's one of my favorite albums of all time, and air stereo has become one with my car stereo and ipod ever since....truly another great album. can't wait to see them live again...

Great lyrics, great sound and a great live band. This one is a no brain-er. This band should be much bigger but something happened w/ a major record label. Let's just hope they stay together and keep putting out albums of this quality. Really, Really glad I stumbled across this band!

Sorry, but this album is not their best work. Not nearly as catchy or complex as PMR, and somewhat mainstream blah.
