4.0 out of 5 stars A fun-loving air travel tell all
I have been a loyal reader of Steward's (Wysong) column on tripso, and picked up two of his books as presents, which I had to read first of course. I liked them so much, that I kept them and bought more for gifts. What sets his writing apart is his way of telling a story in a fun loving and humorous manner, all the while, not offending. I wish there were more flight...

2.0 out of 5 stars too much like the first
His first book was much better. I think he ran out of good material to write about. Some stories were even repeated within the same book.

I wish there were more flight attendants like this one, as I always seem to fly with the ones who seem angry at the world. I like his dry sense of humor and the ability to laugh at the frustrations involved with air travel. I recommend buying it before a flight and following along as your journey progresses.

This book is funny yet so true. It gives a different, yet interesting look at aviation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful and helpful, January 27, 2006
This review is from: Air Travel Tales From The Flight Crew: The Plane Truth At 35,000 Feet (Paperback)
I rarely write these reviews but had to after reading it. This is a wonderful book, written with humor and style. It is a second edition as the author's first was published right before 9/11. So if it seems a lot like the first, read the foreward, it's supposed to. Out of all four of his books I liked The Plane Truth the best, and his latest one Flying High with A Frank Steward is now one of my travel essentials. Read it, you will not be sorry. I got mine used and then bought four more new for friends as gifts.

2.0 out of 5 stars Most disappointing, January 8, 2006
This review is from: Air Travel Tales From The Flight Crew: The Plane Truth At 35,000 Feet (Paperback)
I've never seen such a poorly edited book. Even the back cover contains rudimentary grammatical gaffes. It tries to be folksy and comes off as a tedious amateurish effort.

The substance, pointers about travel (for which I'd bought the book), could be easily condensed to five pages.

The 'humorous' anecdotes are rarely funny (though there are a couple of good laughs) and often seem unlikely to have happened in the first place.

It seems as though someone had a brilliant idea: Whilst trying to rough it through airline-imposed wage cuts, write a book on air travel. The beginnings are there. Mr Steward may very well have been the right person to write this book--if Impact Publications had chosen to give him the proper guidance and correct his mediocre grammar.
