Odor Detect Technology Automatically Releases Fragrance

Strong scents like lingering smoke, fumes, and cooking and pet odors can change the perceived quality of the air. AIR WICK's Freshmatic Odor Detect features odor sensor technology that analyzes these chemical changes in the air. When it detects an unpleasant odor, the Freshmatic unit instantly neutralizes them with extra bursts of its refreshing Cool Linen & White Lilac spray so your home is always welcoming for family and guests.

Choose from three fragrance intensity settings to control how often fragrance is dispersed. Or, use the odor detector setting to release fragrance only when household odors are detected.

Easy Setup and Operation

Perfect for smaller rooms, the Freshmatic Odor Detect Starter Kit comes with everything you need to start freshening your home right away--the spray, an automatic unit, and three AA batteries are included.

Setup is a breeze: just place the unit on any shelf, countertop, or cupboard, making sure it is away from furniture, electronics, and heat sources. Its compact size is unobtrusive and fits in with most home decors.

Portable for Use in Any Room

Because the AIR WICK Freshmatic Odor Detect Starter Kit is battery-operated, it can freshen the air and eliminate odors in any room or area of your home.

Please note that only AIR WICK fragrance spray refills should only be used in AIR WICK Freshmatic Odor Detect units.

It sprays a little over a foot even on the lowest setting.

It is a little frustrating that I cannot push a button and release an extra spray when I think the room needs it.

I think it's 8 bucks or so in local drugstores And it is not all that great a product anyway.

I bought this item at a local supermarket. The lavender fragrance was great but the significant problem is that this product does not do what it promises - that is, to sense odors and dispense fragrance to neutralize/cover them.

I was suspicious that it wasn't doing what it was supposed to and just for a test, I mounted the unit near my cat's litter box and left it there for an hour. Not one spray, not one squirt. Took my dog for a walk and scooped up after her. Placed the open baggie right beside the 'odor detector' in a small room which I use for my den. Didn't go off,, you'd think that would set it off?

So, whatever odors this device 'senses' clearly are of a kind that I don't even notice (and yes I tried it in the kitchen for odors from cooking onion, garlic, etc... and nothing). My vote is that this thing doesn't work as promised and what it likely does is spray occasionally as part of some random program. It clearly does not sense odors at all (and I tried two, thinking the first one might have been a dud, since it was on sale that should have been a hint to me right there .

Couldn't recommend this to anyone,,, except for people who smell imaginary smells anyway... then it might 'work' for them.

If I had read the negative reviews, I probably wouldn't have bought this product, but I saw it at Walmart for $10.00 and thought I would give it a try. I have a feral cat, Fyodor, who lives in my weekend home's 550 sq. ft., insulated and heated garage. She has two large litter boxes which sit side-by-side. I change her litter boxes twice a day when I am at the house, but otherwise, the litter boxes sit unchanged from Sunday night to Friday night. I placed the air freshener two feet above her litter boxes but aimed at them. There are three settings for frequency of spray, and I set mine on minimum because the garage is insulated and air tight. Too much air freshener and it would overwhelm the small space easily. When I returned home on Friday after a week of the air freshener being put in place, I was overjoyed. I couldn't tell from smell that there were two, full litter boxes waiting to be changed, and before the air freshener, I could tell when she used the clean litter boxes just once. I lifted the air freshener and shook the can to see how much of the content was left, and it felt heavy and full. I estimate the spray can should last me a month and a half to two months. Since a refill is only $5.00, that's well worth a nice scented garage. I agree with everyone who says that it doesn't smell like lavender because I have lavender growing around the garage, and it doesn't smell like the air freshener, but I, personally, like the smell of the contrived perfume that Airwick came-up with. The automatic spray does make an audible shwooshing sound when it goes off, but in a garage workshop, you just aren't prone to hear something so gentle sounding. I like this product a lot and in the future, will give it as a stocking stuffer.

Scent Name: Cool Linen and White Lilac Verified Purchase
I bought several of these units to place around my house in hopes that I would come home to a fresh smelling house. The positive is that the smells made by this company are very pleasant and the odor sensing feature seems to work well. Here is why it isn't quite working for me. 1. The scents and spray amounts are not powerful enough to make a difference in a larger room like a living room, yet there are little too strong for a small bedroom. 2. It is a little frustrating that I cannot push a button and release an extra spray when I think the room needs it. I have to open the unit and take out the can, if I want an extra spray. 3. The small spray noise is a little nerve racking at first since you never know when it is coming. My family has seemed to gotten used to the noise, but it always startles guests. I wish it was a little more discreet. Despite these set backs I do still have the units in my home. Overall, I would recommend giving this product a try if you think it might meet your needs, but I am still on the search for another solution.

Bought this on a whim while grocery shopping and I think this is turning out to be one of those purchases I wish I had made a long time ago. With the hot humid weather we've been having as of late, all sorts of unpleasant 'old house' and pet smells have been overwhelming me. I keep a clean and tidy home but hot humid air just has a way of bringing out and amplifying hidden odors (I haven't central air or AC to keep the air cool/dry). Keeping the windows and front door open help air out the house but not a great solution since I can't leave them open all day long while away at the office. I dust and polish the furniture and clean the bathrooms, kitchen and floors weekly which helps, but the clean smell from the products I use is temporary, lasting only a few hours at most.

This air freshener intimidated me with its large size (I thought it a bit gaudy) but I was enticed by the idea of a system that would release a burst of fresh scent on its own in regular intervals. I wanted fresh smelling air that would last throughout the day, not just for an hour or two. I mounted this up high in my foyer which is where the most offensive of odors are likely to come from (my puppy's piddle pad is located here) and it's pointed towards my living room. This setup works perfectly for me! Mounted up as high as it is, it really doesn't seem quite as big/bulky as I thought it would - nor does it look gaudy. If anything, it looks a bit like my alarm system/motion detector but larger of course. I'm sensitive to most perfume like scents but since this isn't in a room that I spend a lot of time in, just in passing, I don't find it bothersome at all.
