I love this device!

Pros: I can transfer all of my photos from my ipad to this device; the transfer and the read is perfect.
Viewing photos are perfect as well.

AND, unlike the other flash cards for iPad, if you download VLC player from the APP Store, it will ALSO play MKV video files! No other card does that!

This small rechargeable battery device about the size of a pack of gum creates a wifi network that shares everything on a SD card with any b/g/n wifi capable device 802.11 using html browsers. SD and SDHC cards(FAT formatted) up to 32GB can be used. SDXC cards are currently supported when formatted in FAT32 format. These cards range from 64GB to 2TB. With the AirStash+, I can copy the files to and from an SD card ...... thus backing up while traveling!

I recently went on a photo Safari to Tanzania. We were going to be in remote locations in the Serengeti. Power is almost non existant, except in the Safari vehicles. I wanted to be prepared and able to safeguard the photos from this "once in a lifetime" experience. With no internet access and the necessity to travel light, we did not bring a laptop. The only backup was my 64 GB iPad 3 and my wife's 1st generation 64 GB iPad.

After other fellow travelers started filling up their SD cards, I got a great idea, since we were all willing to share our photos, I imported everyones cards daily and we all could share the pictures from different camera views. We quickly filled up the iPads' internal memory, but with the AirStash+, I could copy the photos FROM the iPads to a blank SD card for a secure copy! (Something Apple does not make possible natively). I was able to charge the Airstash+, iPads and cameras in the Safari vehicles while we were on game drives!

Of the 13 travelers, there were 6 iPads! Since several people could log onto the AirStash+ wireless network created, everyone could view all the photos at same time. The "UHs & AHs" were heard as we saw many details in pictures that were overlooked in the camera viewfinder. Lions lurking in the brush appeared where they may have been overlooked!

For iOS deivces:
Download and install the AirStash+ app.
Turn on the device (after charging it of course)
Connect to the AirStash network via WiFi.
Launch the AirStash+ app on your device and access the data stored on the device.

This solves the issue of not having enough space on my iPad or iPhone!

You must provide your own SD card and copy your files to the card. I copied some pictures, movies and music and was able to access them from both an iPad 1 running iOS 5.1.1 and an iPhone running iOS 7.2. It works very well! I placed the files into folders named Pictures, Movies and Music.
You can access the device from a PC or Mac using the private URL provided through the apps settings menu.

Works great from multiple devices simultaneously, though I don't know what the practical limit is for connections.

Security:
The first time you connect will be over an open wifi connection. You need to enter settings from the AirStash+ app to turn on security and set your secure password.
TIP: After setting the password, go to your device WiFi settings, select the AirStash network and choose "Forget this Network". Also, turn the AirStash device off for about 15 seconds, then turn it back on and reconnect with your new secure password.

The only issues I have are:
1. You have to connect it to its own separate WiFi network. This is a nice feature except when you want to receive your email updates.
2. You have to play everything from their app - although this works very, very well.

11/30/2013 Update:
Still loving this device! The company does a great job updating and improving the App on a regular basis so it works even better than when I bought it back in August.
Issue #1 is not an issue.

Im writing just to note that with the recent upgrade of the Airstashes software, the device now transfers files both to and from the tablet or smart phone. I've tested it on an iPhone 5s, an IPad mini retina and an iPad Air and it works perfectly. The airstash was a useful device and i've owned it for nearly two years already, but now it has just reached its full potential. Fully recomended.

This device worked for a few minutes but then constantly dropped the wifi signal. After a little use I found that the device would lose power or disconnect at random moments. Very frustrating. This device and the ipad/ iPhone app is just garbage. I gave it one star only because it worked for the first 10 minutes and did a nice job. Update on review: initially I was frustrated and sent out a rather hasty poor review, but in fact, after charging the device for a longer period of time the airstash worked great with my ipad using ios6 operating system. I updated the iPhone to iOS 7 which I think created an issue. I found that if I turned the blue tooth off the phone connected with airstash just fine. On another note, the customer support is fantastic. I was contacted immediately both by email and phone offering to help solve any issues I was having.....very nice support.
