Editorial Reviews

Two 19th Century European naturalists: Alexander Von Humboldt and Aimé Bonpland , both product of the "Age of Reason" from the French Revolution, travel to Venezuela on the northern part of the South American Continent in search of new plants, minerals and also of "The New Man" anticipated by the politics of Transformation advocated by the French upheaval. Both discover a myriad of new plants, animals and minerals and begin to visualize this "New Man". They become engaged in local politics and are primary observers of the crimes committed by the Spaniards upon the Indian population.

A beautiful story told in an almost poetic way. Luis Armando Roche captures the spirit of the characters in every scene and conveys the story in a very fluent manner. Great views and takes of the Venezuelan jungle!

Highly recommended!

I brought this movie just Roy Dupuis was in it. The story is a account of the life of 3 explorers in the early 20th century. The friendship that came out of their journey. Most of the story is correct, but the director/writers did dramatize some parts. Still, I enjoy it.
