Gem of a game,

Airfix Dogfighter is probably the best game I have played. The scenarios are a great first course to the joys of multiplayer. The game runs on pretty much any system while the mutliplayer works great over even a dialup connection (providing the level that's being played isn't too big or overly stuffed with furniture). There is a great community of players - go to mattfletcher.co.uk/afd/index.htm to catch up on news, chat and learn tricks (flying the bombers is great). The game is a bit buggy but these problems are a small in comparison to how great the game is. I haven't played anything else in YEARS.

This Simple Little Thing Is Really Fun!,

You should be able to pick this up somewhere for almost nothing, since it's no longer being sold. Find the patch online and add it, in case your joystick doesn't work. Then fly little model airplanes around the house, blasting the china and whatever else.

This game has the ability to play both as the Axis or as the allies. Or you can dial in to the internet and play against your friends. The only downside is that it is not a windows based program. HAVE FUN!!!

The concept of this game is simple... it's the fantasy of a kid, spending an afternoon at home alone, back in the days before X-Boxs and Playstations and the like. Running around the house, with a model plane he built himself in his hands, imagining it's dogfighting and bombing and so forth. The entire game takes place in the house (or in the yard in a few cases). You've got a plane you control, but understand, there are no "aerodynamics" involved here... no realistic physics... nothing of that sort. And that's half the fun... even though there is no visible "kid" in the game, we can remember this in our own fantasies from that age, and that's really the perspective the game is from. You score points by destroying enemies (airborne and land based) and also by destroying (obviously not REALLY, just in fantasy) various objects around the house... plates, vases, etc. (Yes, they're always back for the next mission... so Mom's not really going to be mad!) Get enough "stars" in a level and you'll upgrade your aircraft. You can pick up "rockets" and "bombs" (crayons and firecrackers and so forth) as well as fuel and ammo and repair icons during the level. You always start off in the boy's room ("Allied Headquarters") and end up infiltrating various hostile areas of the house (including your sister's room!) to engage Nazi aircraft, bomb Nazi bases, and so forth. The graphics aren't photorealistic, but they're more than adequate, as is the sound. This is a FUN GAME, and if I've had a stressful day, this is one of the best way for me to just mindlessly relax. I suppose "today's kids" might not be able to relate to this like those of us who grew up in the pre-iPod era... but I suspect that they'd get as much of a kick out of this as I do, anyway, even if it's not something that will feel nostalgic to them as it does to me. Honestly... there are few games I can recommend unconditionally, and this is one of them. Buy it... trust me.

I first saw this game at a computer show where they were demoing a solid state motion sensing joystick. I have been playing it 4 years. My 5 year old wathces and fires the missiles. It's the only way i can bribe him to go to bed on time etc. The missions are varied and challenging. It's easy to use, but challenging to complete all the missions. The flight simulation is unreal. Needs a patch to work with joystick, but easy to download and install it. I use a keypad for precision. Really cool flying around the house blasting things and dogfighting the other planes.

This game is just unbelievable! From the levels to the planes its just a pleasure to play no matter how many times you've played! The bombing raids to the dogfights to defending your convoy and base, it's just a spectacular game every PC enthusiast should at least give it a "shot".
