I tried the gel pads, etc. but after reading many, many reviews of the Airhawk, I tried it. All I can say is "WOW". If you adjust it properly (so it doesn't feel like sitting on a pool raft), and let the air our to the point where it's recommended in the instructions, it works great.

It fit my Triumph Tiger Explorer perfectly, and even though the straps are a little flimsy looking, it performed very well during a recent ride from Buckeye, AZ to Wickenburg in 100 dgree (plus) weather. Do yourself a big favor, buy this and save your butt!

UPDATE: After over 1,000 miles with this I've got to say that this is the best thing to happen to your butt, ever. It has easily tripled or even quadrupled my time between stops. Be sure to get the air level adjusted correctly; rather too little air than too much. You should be able to shift from left to right and feel the air move to the pockets from the compressed to the uncompressed sides.

I've not had to adjust the air pressure once after I got it adjusted properly.

I purchased the Medium Airhawk Seat Cushion for my Harley Softail Deluxe just prior to a 9-day, 2000 mile trip incorporating 1/2 of Route 66. I can honestly say this cushion saved my a## on this trip.

On most days, we made several stops along the way so the miles between were as few as 20 up to about 200; however, we had 2 long days at the beginning and end of our trip of almost 400 miles each. Getting up and back on the bike the next day was tolerable, no matter how long we had ridden the day before.

After 2000 miles, I was still sore and more than ready to get off the bike, but I know I would have been in much worse shape a lot sooner without it. Previously, on trips only half this long and using other cushions (sheepskin and gel), I was sore for several days after we got back and had no interest in riding for a while. I packed the gel cushion after the 2nd day because it felt more like a brick than my bare motorcycle seat. This time, with the Airhawk, I was ready to get back on the bike a couple of days after our return.

I have also used the Airhawk on a few "shorter" trips since - one that was 250 miles and a couple about 100 miles. I feel it's a great improvement over the stock seat for any trip longer than 50 miles.

However, after 200 miles in the saddle - no matter what anyone else says - my behind aches and not even this seat cushion can make riding a bike long distance just like floating on air!

It does take a little adjusting to get the air just right so you're not too bouncy yet have enough cushion. That process is not difficult, and I recommend getting it "just right" during a shorter trip locally before setting out on a long journey.

Overall, I'm very happy with the Airwhawk and highly recommend it. Just don't expect to feel like you're riding on a Barcalounger instead of a motorcycle!

I put one of these on my FXWG and it extends my riding time by hours. I also purchased the pillion version for my girl...and she actually enjoys riding with me now. Highly recommended.

I had been shopping for a new seat for my 1988 Harley Lowrider for months. Then, I happened upon the Airhawk Comfort Seat Cushion at Amazon.com.

I LOVE my Harley, But, the '88 Lowrider is a jarring ride. I have been sleeping on a Sleep Number Bed for the past 7 years. So, I understand the air cushion technology...and, I also LOVE my Sleep Number Bed (#35, if any of you are interested).

For less than $150.00, the Airhawk Comfort Seat Cushion was much less than a new seat, so I bought it. I adjusted it as instructed and proceeded to take it out for a 100 mile test thumpin' ride on the winding roads of northern Michigan. Well, I was impressed. It IS noticeably more comfortable than my stock seat. And, it did make my lengthy ride more enjoyable.

I was only concerned that a "seat cushion" on my Harley was going to make me look like an old softie. Well, first of all, at my age, I don't give a SH__. And, secondly, the cushion didn't look that bad on the bike.

The important thing, is the RIDE. And, the RIDE was decidedly better. So, five stars for the Airhawk Comfort Seat Cushion from me...and my Butt.

I have an extended tailbone that causes motorcycle (Kawasaki 500 LTD) trips over a couple of minutes to be uncomfortable. With the air cushion not only are long trips enjoyable but I take the cushion with me when I have to sit for any length of time (like eating out, visiting a jazz club, playing cards, attending a concert and driving my car). When I read about the uncomfortable saddles in the cycle mag reviews I shake my head. Forget about uncomfortable saddles and concentrate on the rest of the bike. Any discomfort can be addressed with the air cushion.

All I can say is...WOW! I have never ridden with any kind of seat cushion, just put up with the numb butt and aching back. Now that I'm older, the numbness and ache is worse so I started researching. I liked the sound of this cushion, so I got it...and am I glad that I did! Before I used it on my bike, I experimented with it in a very uncomfortable wooden chair that I have in my house. Once I got the air properly adjusted, I was amazed at the difference that the cushion made in that hard wooden seat! Then, I tried it on my elyptical bicycle in the house. After riding for approximately 30 minutes, I would have numb butt. Well, with the Airhawk Cushion...no more numb butt! Finally, I put it on my Suzuki Burgman 400 and how happy it made my butt! I can now ride longer distances without feeling the need to pull over and get off the bike for some relief. The cushion is like riding on air...which it is actually! I may order another one just to have in the house! One funny note...when I first put it on my bike, I just didn't see much difference and I was disappointed. When I unzipped the cover in order to adjust the air, I saw my mistake...I had put it on the seat upside down! I turned it over, went for another ride and...SUCCESS! Like others have said, just don't use too much air. I have found that it almost appears to be flat when it is at it's most comfortable. Too much air and it's like riding on tennis balls! Just play with the air and you will find that sweet spot. I love this cushion and it appears to be very well made. I got the medium cruiser AirHawk II as I am a big guy and wanted the better quality. I believe that this cushion will last for years. I am VERY pleased with it! Now, I wouldn't want to do without it!
