1.0 out of 5 stars Not what i expected
I bought this product because I thought it would help me learn something useful before enrolling in the air force. If you are buying it for the same reason, don't do it, it doesn't have information that you will need. I ended up reselling it for a fraction of the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars For the Airman and His Family, September 16, 2004
This review is from: Airman's Guide: 6th Edition (Paperback)
Intended for anyone going into the Air Force, their families and others who by interest or other relationships are involved with air force personnel. That's quite a sentence, but it's true.

For instance, if you are thinking of joining the Air Force, but you have a tattoo - what's the Air Force policy. What about educational opportunities, a lot of people enter the Air Force directly from high school and come out with masters degrees. How do you get the assignments you want.

These kinds of questions are things that the old hand master sargeant knows all about because he has been there for many years. This book was written by just such a sargeant and covers nearly any question possible. Anyone thinking about the Air Force should get two copies of this book, one for himself or herself, and another to leave with his family.

I'm a new recruit, and as far as I can tell, this book details everything worth knowing and more about the Air Force and its standards. I'm glad to have picked this up before heading out to basic training. I get the impression that most of what you learn (non-physically) at basic and beyond will serve as a reinforcement to what this book teaches you.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome book, August 16, 2011

This book was loaded with so much useful info,it was crazy.I got this book and the basic training one so I could learn and read up on everything possible before I headed in to the air force. The basic training guide was really good too but only for the basic training course part, after that it's use is over..but this book was something that really wowed me and made me realize what the other reviews were talking about, this book really will be good to have no matter what rank or career you have or pick in the air force.it talks about fun facts like what the air force logo means and when it was made, shows what your uniform will be and look like and how to wear it,what is allowed and not allowed in style, living and so forth, how payments work, who to talk to if your interested in getting promotions or your pay didn't come out right or you run in to any problems at all, what programs will be offered and what course you would have to take to get promotions, shows you where the bases are and who really gets to get assigned to them and how many positions there is in the military for each job and so forth and even lays out all the military lingo for you to get down or know what people are talking about in case they use terms you never came across before.I agree with everyone when I say this is a great book for anyone to have and hold on to through out your whole air force career.

This review is from: Airman's Guide: 6th Edition (Paperback)
As a new AF wife, I picked this book along with the AF Officers Guide in hopes of getting a clear picture of military life, jargon and expectations. It was completely unhelpful.
