CFI Recommended,

I find I reference this text numerous times with each student pilot I work with. It is concise and accurate and a fine tool for teaching as well as learning. It might help to know that many of the questions asked on both the Aeronautical Knowledge Tests and the FAA Oral come directly from this book. Add Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge: FAA-H-8083-25, December 2003 (FAA Handbooks series) (a new version) and you have an excellent start to a training library.

Great for all pilots!,

This book is definitely a must-have if you want to learn how to fly. It covers all aspects of piloting airplanes in a very precise way, with hundreds of illustrations to help with the descriptions. It's good for more than just amateur pilots as well, since it was only recently released by the FAA.

Truly a gem of a book -- I wish I had discovered it earlier! Its strengths are:
- Comprehensive, covers practically topics having to do with piloting various types of airplanes - Clearly and succintly written - Outstanding color illustrations for most maneuvers What the book does not cover is talking to air traffic controllers, navigation by VOR, GPS, etc topics beyond the actual control of the aircraft.

I'm still reading the book. I'm using it to help myself become instructor proficient after letting my lic. lapse for several years. The book is a very good review.

Very nice resource,
This review is from: Airplane Flying Handbook (Paperback)
I found it very helpful as it is detailed and describes common errors so you don't make them in the air. Great book, and I assumes the standard knowledge that any pilot should be proficient in. I bought it as a beginner going for private pilot licenese. This is the most preferable book to get to teach you how to perform basic and advanced maneuvers, take-offs, landings, weather conditions, nighttime flying, and transitions to larger and different planes.
