5.0 out of 5 stars 18-month-old's Favorite, June 26, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Airplanes and Flying Machines (First Discovery Books) (Hardcover)
My son is 18-months-old and loves looking at this book! The pages are easy to turn and the pictures are clear (uncluttered). There are also lots of facts about common flying machines AND old flying machines. This book has given him a love for airplanes. We thoroughly enjoy the First Discovery Book series. Of all their books, this is one of his favorites.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book for toddler airplane enthusiasts, February 9, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Airplanes and Flying Machines (First Discovery Books) (Hardcover)
My 30-month-old loves this book. It is colorful, durable and covers a wide range of airplane topics. We especially love the cut-away scenes showing the cockpit of a jet, with controls, dials and lights. Its wire-ring binding is a very nice touch; the pages turn very easily and resist tearing. Its a great choice for your juvenile library. We will be investigating others in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this one., April 30, 2009
This review is from: Airplanes and Flying Machines (First Discovery Books) (Hardcover)
You know how it is if you have an aviation enthusiast on your hands. By now, you have probably looked at dozens (hundreds) of airplane books with your little pilot-to-be.

Don't miss this book.

Some of the pages are printed on transparencies that flip over to show you cross-sections of the planes. Wow! For a toddler, that is magic.

The diagrams are detailed and exciting, the text is easy for parents to read, and it's not overwhelmingly scientific.

Caution: If your airplane fan is a little Amelia Earhart instead of a little Charles Lindbergh, know in advance there are no women aviators pictured in the book. Only women passengers and flight attendants. All the aviators are men.
