As a grandma and librarian, I know kids love stories but they also love knowing the facts about participants in a story, especially if they are butterflies! I believe children's book authors many times underestimate children's interest and ability to digest information. Calder and Quiel's book is such a fine mix of both fact and fiction on a subject everyone loves - the monarch butterflies. My hope is this dynamic duo can create more books like this one.

A sweet story with scientifically accurate lessons about monarch butterflies. Illustrated with the most gorgeous and enchanting watercolors - look closely for all of the funny little insects. The inclusion of more "traditional" education with pronunciations & photographs in the back of the book is an added bonus. A brilliant and entertaining book that will be enjoyed over and over!!
