When I first saw that there was going to be a d20 book on airships, I was excited because I had been struggling on how to add airships to my game. And now I have it, and I'm glad I spent the money on it. For one, I believe this is the first 3rd party d20 book I've bought that is in full color. It's not hardback, much to my disappointment, since I'm sure I'll be using this book to death. It covers every thing you need to know to put airships into a d20 fantasy setting. Weather, air currents, crews, construction, and magic items. It could use a few charts to summarize some of the weather effects and such, but these can be made easily enough by hand.

Great Book on a Cool Topic, January 25, 2006
This review is from: Airships (d20 Fantasy Roleplaying Supplement, BAS1009) (Paperback)
Having come up with the idea to set the next game I run as a GM in a world of floating islands, I needed a way to for characters to breach the large distances between these islands: dragons were out, as I had decided to make them legendary creatures, other animals simply wouldn't have the stamina to make the trips, that leaves airships. I was all geared up to come up with my own system, including buying several d20 books to cull any pertinent information from, when I came across this book, here on Amazon.
I read the other reviews listed, and then didn't hesitate further and ordered it, I'm glad I did.
The book has everything I'm looking for; airship design, occupations that occur on an airship, including feats and skills plus a few prestige classes, a section dealing with aerial combat, also a section detailing magic in the air, including some new spells, capping it all are examples using the design rules given in the first section of the book.
What flaws there are in this book are easily ignored and minor. And the rules information is simple enough that it can be easily tweaked to fit into most campaigns, or used just as it appears out of this book.
This is definitely the book to get if you're going to put airships in the game. It's succinct and it sure beats tweaking rules to come up with the same information that will most likely not be on par with the information given in this book.

More info than you need, September 28, 2004
This review is from: Airships (d20 Fantasy Roleplaying Supplement, BAS1009) (Paperback)
I liked the idea of airships and felt they were a natural progression in a magic society. The book that gave me the idea to use them had very little information on how to actually use airships. Things like cost, construction, materials, and of course lots of extras and options were all missing. THIS BOOK HAD THEM ALL. There is really more information here than I think I will ever need. It is very comprehensive and I like it a lot. I really recommend it if you're going to use airships because as soon as you do, all the players will be asking all the questions whose answers lie in this book.
