David Winick is an amazing craftsman! Yes, I'm biased as I am a proud owner of a Winick Bambi, but I highly recommend this book be added to your collection. Similar to his outstanding work on Airstreams, those sleek, iconic American gems rolling down the road, this book is beautifully presented and is a MUST HAVE for anyone interested in Airstreams, and especially for anyone contemplating their own renovation. David provides terrific before & after photos and shares his knowledge of taking trailers through the resto process. I especially love his brutal honesty when he says something is, "butt ugly", and therefore should be crafted into something more palpable (dinette & refrigerator). You will not be disappointed in this book!

Winick shows us why he's Top Dog in the world of Airstream renovations. Not only is he a master craftsman in myriad materials, he's also an amazing designer with a brilliant sense of proportion and propriety. He takes us inside his renovations and thought process to make the transformations seem entirely achievable. This is a much-needed reference-book-slash-joy-ride for the slightly un-hinged aluminum junkie ;-)

This book is filled with excellent pictures of Airstream interiors showing many details.
A nice gift for any vintage Airstream enthusiast or restorer.

I tell my wife, my middle aged crisis purchases (i'm 47, when's it going to happen???) are going to be 1) a vintage mustang 2) a powder blue bianchi road bicycle and 3) a david winick custom airstream.

This book is the next best thing to owning one of david' creations. It is a reverent, detailed, and nostalgic look at the airstream and the craft of a fine artist. It is the perfect addition to a coffee table or a bedstand (the latter being well placed for dreaming of the great road trips one could do in a winick airstream).

The photography is great, and david's text is the perfect accompaniment, allowing non-artists like myself to have some windown on the creative process.

Perfect for yourself or for a holiday gift!!!

If you haven't been privileged enough to see David Winick's magnificent Airstream Custom Interiors in person (one is in the permanent collection of MOMA), then this book is the next best thing!

His brilliant craftsmanship and keen eye make me long for a life on the road as he "rebuilds America one rivet at a time".

This beautiful book is a welcome addition to any library and will afford you many satisfying trips on the open road, even if only from the comfort of your living room chair. . .

A beautiful book with inspiring pictures and stories. A book that keeps us coming back for more inspiration. We are very pleased with this purchase.

This is a great book, filled with wonderful photos of imaginative remodels of classic Airstreams. The writer also has instructive floor plans and ideas on how to achieve these remodels.

I've seen two of David Winick's finished Airstream restorations in person (at Tin Can Tourists ([...]) rallies and this book helped me appreciate the artistry and thought that goes into such wonderful restorations.

You really can't fully appreciate the hard work until you see the starting point and the steps involved. The pictures and commentary in his book will help you understand how talented, detailed and accomplished David is and why the Airstream company and many celebrities hire him.

I loved the pictures except the book fell apart first time I looked at it. Very disappointed in the quality.

I purchased a 1964 Airstream Safari a number of years ago. It was and is in really good shape, having spent most of its life in the back of a lake cabin lot. I wanted to restore the trailer, but at the same time not remuddle it. After reading the book and a visit to the nearest Airstream dealer to look at the new versions, I now have it figured out. The emphasis of the book seems to be keep what works and update where needed, definitely, not like some books, rip it all out, start over and end up with an expensive piece of aluminum kitsch.

The book does have a tendency to push the author's business and line of thinking, but does provide a number basic design ideas to upgrade these old classics. Overall this is a book that classic Airstream owners need to have to share the vision of classic Airstreams.
