Only two minor failings.,

These headphones are great. They have quality sound, even at ear splitting volume levels. They are closed ear headphones so you don't have to worry about outside noise getting in or your music getting out. They also have a mute button on the left ear for when you need to hear what's going on around you. They only have two draw backs: being closed ear headphones your ears will get hot, and the headband tends to get out of adjustment. Other then that I've been really happy with them. I've had them for several months and use them constantly. Well worth the $$$.

Nice headphones for listening to mp3's on the computer at home, but not something i would wear actively. The thin membrane that covers the closed earphones tears easily exposing the foam padding. The thin, single cable doesnt tangle which is nice. They are definately comfortable and sound good.

These headphones are comfortable, cheap, and good sound quality. Theres only one downside I found, it has little to no bass. The bass sounds like it was from one of those ear piece head phones.

Superb Selection for Home Audio Listening,

I have owned these headphones for a year now. Prior to them I owned a similar pair of headphones but they were manufactured by a no-name company and I bought them for[money]at a computer show. You definitely get what you pay for. Those ones broke. Thirty dollars for this set is well worth it. Anyone who values absorbing every sound will love them. They keep all the sound in. There have been times when someone has been in the same room as me yelling my name and I didn't realize it. Obviously, I had the volume up very loud and when they tapped me on the shoulder I nearly had a heart attack, so be careful. Aside from sound quality, they also have outstanding durability. They will stretch to fit virtually any head size. I have a relatively small head but they fit snugly. My brother, who has a very large head, has used them, and they fit him well too. As far as added features go, there's not much. They are only headphones afterall. I like the location of the mute button (on the bottom of the left earphone), although I have hit it accidentally from time to time (no big deal, it only mutes when you're pressing it). Also, there is more than enough chord. I often plug these headphones into my stereo, put them on, and sit at my desk, which is across the room, without a problem. On the other hand, the chord can get in the way if the player is close. But that's why headphones like this are ideal for home use. The only feature I've noticed lacking from this model is an on-chord volume control (which my cheap $10 pair actually had). But if you're near your player or have a remote for it, this isn't an issue. All in all, the aiwa HP-X222 headphones are ideal for all home audio purposes, computer and stereo. Five star product.

NEW FAVORITE PAIR,

I got these headphone because I had HP-CN5's (aiwa's noise canceling ones), but I managed to snap the headband, so thats [money] down the drain. So I looked around and got the HP-X222's.First - The sound is terrific, I havn't heard sound like this out of headphones before. Second - I think these are very comfortable, heck I wear them even if i dont have them plugged in, in the 2 day's I've had them I can't even tell their on anymore. Third - The sound quality is great like I stated before, it handles high's well, and also lows alot better then I thought they would. Although they can't get DEEP bass, they do not get distorded at hi volumes either. I also have a pair of Sony's that cost [more] and I believe the HP-X222's sound just as good if not better. * - Only thing I don't like is the mute button on the left side, I constantly accidently press it while adjusting the headphones.

First of I have an extremly large head and trying to find some headphones that don't pinch my big head was a challenge... But my quest ended here! These are some of the first headphones that fit all sizes with out pain. They also offer great sound quality, and they mute most of the sound around you, so don't drive with these on...

Hearken: a splendid investment!,

First let me say that I regularly entrust Aiwa to all my audio needs, so I guess I'm a devoted customer. Still, that fact aside, this is a great purchase, and it certainly fulfills the need for a pair of superb headphones. As someone who can't stand bass, it is [always] nearly impossible to find a pair of closed-cup headphones that doesn't have "enhanced bass," "extra bass," or the like. However, even though this pair claims to provide a "deeper, stronger bass sound," it isn't as bad as the other headphones I've had the immense displeasure of trying, and tweaking one's equalizer can easily compensate for the unwanted bass. Rephrased, I hate bass and bass-heavy music, and I don't understand why headphones have built-in mechanisms to add bass; companies could at least allow you to turn it off at will, but I digress. Nevertheless, these headphones provide good-quality sound (minus the excessive bass), they block out your surroundings, thereby allowing you to be enveloped in your music, and the cord is of an adequate length. Moreover, the price is quite affordable--certainly worth the sound quality that you receive--and the headset is both comfortable, as well as flexible and articulated. These headphones do lack the volume control option I've seen elsewhere, but so what?! Likewise, the 'mute' button must be held down to be employed, but that doesn't bother me because it's a rather useless option. In conclusion, I'm not going to claim that this product is perfect, however they are the best closed-cup headphones I've tried (hence the 5 star rating), and I recommend them to all whom are willing to listen (no pun intended)!

This is the best pair of headphones you can lay your hands on. The insulation from ambient noise is excellent(it shuts out your dishwasher, and other sounds of domestic appliances); the spatial resolution of the sound is excellent - I listened to a string quartet the other day, and could easily pinpoint the instruments.Your ears do get warm due to the closed ear design, but the listening pleasure makes up for it. Great for the discerning, non-professional listener....particularly for classical music.

Excellent but not for a lifetime,
This review is from: Aiwa HP-X222 Home Headphones (Closed Type, 38-MM Driver) (Electronics)
I've had a pair of these for about 3 years now and I have enjoyed the sound quality. However the ear cups are now disintegrating. The last time I wore them I had black specs all over my face when I took them off. I only hope I can find another pair I'll like as much as these!

I've had these for several years (4? 6? not sure). I wear them at work, most of the day, almost every weekday. They're very comfortable--it never bothers me to wear them all day. They completely contain the sound they produce, so I can jack up the volume to a point where it drowns my coworkers out and nobody around me is disturbed. They block out some ambient noise even when nothing is playing, so I actually don't have to turn my music up too loud to block things out. The sound quality is pretty good, very good when you consider the price.
They are starting to show a little wear now, on the pads around the ears. If they were available on Amazon (they're not as of this writing), I'd buy another pair in a heartbeat. I'd definitely recommend them to anybody. |
