Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The AIWA NSX-AJ700 system comes loaded with 100 watts per channel amplification, a three-CD changer, AM/FM digital-synthesized tuner, and dual cassette decks. An electronic graphic equalizer with three presets, three-position T-Bass, and BBE sound enhancement lets you tailor the sound to your taste. A pair of two-way bass-reflex speakers delivers the sound with heft, and a full-function remote control lets you adjust levels and functions from the comfort of your listening chair or beanbag.

The system's flip-down panel conceals secondary controls for a sleek appearance, and new fluorescent displays simplify operation.

The NSX-AJ700's BBE circuitry, used in professional sound applications, dynamically adjusts for frequency and phase distortions, bringing the reproduced sound into sharper focus.

Gleaming with metallic styling, this unit also uses exclusive D.I.N.A. (Dynamic Integrated Neo Amplifier) technology for greater dynamic range, increased headroom, lower distortion, and a wider perceived soundstage.

4.0 out of 5 stars Aiwa AJ 700 System, October 18, 2001

This review is from: Aiwa NSX-AJ700 Compact Stereo System (Electronics)
I purchased this unit after my old system I'd had since 1993 died on me... I shopped locally and online and came across the Aiwa AJ 300, as nice as that one seemed the AJ-700 clearly came across as a better system. The unit has a clock feature which is nice little extra but it even has timed programming options... as well as "timer playback" (alarm) capabilities. Granted not the main reason anyone buys a system but a nice touch none the less.

The sound quality is excellent on this unit, it doesn't matter if your listening to AM/FM radio, tape or CD the sound quality is remarkable. Instead of low, medium and loud sound settings you have various grades in between which bring subtle changes overall. The CD player takes a little getting used to, think of it as a triangle in terms of when you put your discs in. Taking them out requires a bit of care at first so you don't bang them against the machine itself.

The unit can be operated by remote or by a nifty little front pannel which folds up during the time's powered off. The front pannel has a skip track feature which is nice, just rotate it one time and it goes to the next track. Reminescent of some DVD players out there, the unit also has a blank skip feature that takes cd's to the next track. So if your tired of hearing blank spots between tracks this takes care of that. The materials on the box and owners manual talk about the unit capable of playing CD/R's, I'll have to try that out when I get my disc's back. If it works as well as it does with Analaog and Digital CD's it should be great.

The remote itself won't win any awards for ergonomics but it is laid out amongst the familiar lines we've seen before. It gets the job done though. Takes two AA batteries which are of course not provided, so better stock up if you buy this one.

All in all the unit is one I like, I wish I didn't have to go into work so I could have more time to play with it!
