Introducing MPC 5000: the most advanced MPC ever. MPCs are the unquestioned standard in studio and live beat and track production, mixing expressive pressure and velocity-sensitive pads, a comprehensive compliment of assignable tactile controls, and powerful sequencing, sampling and effects. MPC5000 takes the MPC even further with over 100 new capabilities, most notably internal, streaming multitrack recording and onboard virtual analog synthesis.
The advances in MPC 5000 are numerous. Just a few include a new, high-resolution sequencing engine, 64-track continuous sampling, a newly engineered effects engine, random and cycle-sample playback, turntable preamp, the completely new virtual analog synth, the eight-track direct-to-disk recorder, and 650MB of premium sounds.
MPC5000 is the first MPC ever to include 8-track streaming hard disk recording, a 20-voice, 3-oscillator analog synthesizer with arpeggiator, a new sequencing engine with 960 ppq resolution, pad and track muting and mixing, 64 continuous sample tracks. There's even a new FX engine with 4 FX buses and 2FX per bus.
In addition, MPC5000 features a 64-voice drum/phrase sampler with 64MB memory - expandable up to 192MB. The display is twice the size of MPC2500 and MPC1000 so waveforms appear crystal-clear. Integrated Chop Shop 2.0 now supports stereo chops and Patched Phrases. MPC5000 is also the first MPC to include Random and Cycle sample playback in addition to velocity Zone Play. A turntable preamp is also included.
MPC5000's virtual analog synth eliminates need for external analog synth modules or buggy software based synthesizers. The new 8-track direct to disk recorder lets you produce your whole song in the MPC and then mix it down with the internal sequenced programs and any input thru material. Add the optional CD/DVD drive and you can then burn an audio or data CD or your mix. Over 650MB of premium-quality sounds from Loopmasters are included to get you up and running with pro-quality production in seconds.
Create your sounds and samples, connect other sources, sequence, mix, and edit – PRODUCE your song in MPC5000. Then mix it down and record it. MPC5000 puts more power, more capability, and more control in the hands of every music and beat producer.

Pricey piece of Greatness,

Imagine having a synthesizer added to your MPC (assuming you have used a MPC before). Same capabilities as the previous models, but my favorite addition is the arpeggio function. When a MIDI keyboard is hooked up you can play out chords and press the arpeggiator button instead of just holding down the note-repeat button. I actually ordered and installed different color pads to give my MPC that customized-look. The internal hard drive is loaded with more than enough soundsets. The ability to chop and edit samples has been simplified with a few auto options. It also has a built in multitrack recorder (which I have yet to mess with), but seems easily accessible at the click of a button. I save my sounds on the internal hard drive and back them up on computer via USB port built on the back of the unit. The option to save and/or load is available for both Compact Flash cards and internal hard drive. Optional DVD Drive can be installed, too...this made my beat CD creation a cinch. The internal ROM is loaded with basic drum sets and synth presets. Make sure you update the Operating System for I heard the original OS was "buggy" (unstable). Like I mentioned in my title...the MPC5000 is quite pricey, but the power of this machine is unrivaled.

You say you want beats? You say you want crazy synths? Then the MPC 5000 is definitely the studio in a box you have been looking for. I love this monster of a machine. It's built very sturdy and of great quality. You look at it and it just calls out for your creative juices! It also has a fun learning curve in my opinion. It thrives in compatibility with your PC or Mac. And integrates seemlessly with most DAW and software programs. It could have been equipped with a little more memory but the upgrade is also very reasonable on Amazon. So I still give it 5 stars. If you love producing and creating your own music, then the MPC 5000 will give you that power. It's completely hands on for those who like to immerse themselves into their instrument. It actually makes you the instrument in a way? Because the MPC is only as great as the person using it! If you are great, then it is great! And vise versa! Either way, you will love finding yourself with this baby! It is so cool when you become one with it. Akai is a big part of my musical arsenal and a trusted name with me. I would recommend this puppy for anyone who considers themselves a true producer of music. It is a beat making mad scientist at work, trust me!!!
