The instructions are difficult to read, but the item is easy to figure out how to use.

2.0 out of 5 stars Akai chordfinder
I was disappointed when I received the Akai KCF1 Keyboard Chordfinder. The screen is virtually impossible to read. The instructions are virtually useless. The idea is good, but the actual product is not.

2.0 out of 5 stars Hard to see!, August 8, 2007

I bought this because it was cheaper than the other chord finders, but I returned it right away. It's impossible to see the screen! I experimented with the lighting to no avail. It went back the next day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little gadget, April 3, 2007

I can always use help figuring out chords...and here it is. It's simple, easy-to-use and I wonder why I didn't purchase this sooner. (I like it so much I also picked up a guitar chord finder for my husband).

5.0 out of 5 stars Neat!, June 1, 2011

I brought one of these maybe 4 years ago. I'm a keyboardist and sound guy (aka fader pusher). I like this because the chords are displayed on a piano. Which helps me out a lot. This is supposed to be compact enough to fit on a key chain and it is. I'm not sure why people are expecting an Ipad sized screen. It's cheap and simple enough and there are a lot of features it carries. It is a handy tool I only wish maybe it had a "Chime" to match the chord you are looking at so you could kind of tune your ear to it as well besides just looking at it. Never had a problem with battery life 4 years and it still works just fine. Take care of it and it will last you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Small, inexpensive useful tool., November 28, 2011

I have this and have used it a lot. The batteries last a while and it just takes a little time to figure out. There are three lines, the key, the chord, the tension and two modes, chord and find. When you turn it on the word "key" is underlined and it starts on the C key. By pressing the right and left arrow buttons you go through all the keys which are on a horizontal line. Then pressing select to move the underline to the word Chord, you can see all the chords using the arrows. Once you select the chord you want, you press select and the cursor (underline) goes down to Tension and using the arrows you can select the Tension you want. At each point the keys are displayed on the little keyboard and the appropriate notes have a little dot on them. In the find mode you use the arrows to move the keyboard dots to different keys. In the find mode a little dot appears on the root key of the selected key. Press select, move using the arrow keys and another little dot moves from key to key until you select so that you can determine what that set of keys is called. If the display is light it needs batteries. Of course it is small but I am 66 with glasses and can see it well. Of course a cheap iPad version would be nice but I have not found it and my iPad does not fit in my pocket.

JUST RECIEVED THIS PIECE OF JUNK CHORD FINDER, IT S THE WORSE ITEM IVE BOUGHT ONLINE.

I WOUNDNT ACCEPT IT EVEN IF IT WAS FREE, ITS HECKA SMALL AND CANT HARDLY SEE THE LITTLE TINY 1X1-1/2 INCH SCREEN LET ALONE THE KEY CHORDS THERE SHOULD BE A LAW AGAINST FOOLING OR MISLEADING THE PUBLIC WITH ITEMS SUCH AS THIS. THE BATTERY IS MORE VAULABLE THEN THE PRODUCT ITSELF

ON A SCALE OF ONE TO TEN I GIVE IT A MINUS 1

SHAME ON YOU
