MPK 25,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Akai Professional MPK25 Keyboard USB MIDI Controller
I have had the MPK around 2 weeks now and due to a lack of time i have not used it to its full capabilities but im getting there.Starting with the positives: It is compact enough to move around with ease It is very easy to set up It has easy sync with ableton and my apc40 Negatives: It does not come with any pre-set tones, ie you have to use abletons (or other programs) pre set sounds and then modify them using the mpk. Therefore meaning that you cannot use this as a stand alone keyboard. The drum pads are not the easiest to get a steady sound from, they seem a little tight to push for my liking, causing me to over or underhit notes i want to play. The bank knobs, (top right) do not pre set very well to the sound which i am using, meaning a good amount of time is spent mapping these to a configuration which seems more relative to my laptop display. All in all it seems to be a descent enough keyboard for my needs but i think if i had the choice now i would have went for the smaller $100 akai keyboard as perhaps i do not have the time to spend setting it up when i am looking for new sounds. |
