A comprehensive overview of her output during the 80's compiled by John Zorn. A super line-up including the entire YMO crew. Go for this one if you cannot find or afford the original Japanese releases.

The album pictured here is a different Akiko Yano album from the one being reviewed. This is the cover art to a new album named "akiko", produced by T Bone Burnett, which contains some original tunes, covers of The Doors' "People Are Strange" and Led Zep's "Whole Lotta Love" (!), and a tune by Burnett. The price looks right for that album, but I'd be cautious about buying it.

I've listened to her album "Piano Nightly" for years. I like this one even better--it's been a regular in my CD player ever since I bought it. Her voice is whimsical, like a butterfly in a flower garden. You don't need to understand Japanese to understand her songs.
