Akribos XXIV Men's AK406SS 'Davinci' Stainless Mechanical Watch

This is a beautiful watch, and is one that keeps accurate time throughout a day. Extremely satisfied with this purchase, however I took off one star for two minor reasons:

1. This watch is not an automatic watch, meaning that it has to be wound to keep the time. A full wind will keep the watch running for about 40 hours (according to an Arkibos Representative), however I've noticed that is more like 30 - 35 hours. You can wind the watch during the course of the day, in which case it wouldn't stop unless you forgot to wind it. This is the case will all skeleton watches, however I just wish that the wind lasted for a little longer that what I have experienced.

2. The second negative with this watch is that while it is keeping time, the second hand creates a fairly loud ticking noise while on the hand. Don't get me wrong, it can easily be tuned out, and I rarely notice it throughout the day, however during those quiet times working on reports, it can become a bit of an annoyance.

Overall, I would recommend this watch to anyone who has an appreciation for a quality timepiece. I have received several comments on it so far, and if you are looking for something a bit outside the box than your standard fossil watch, definitely buy this.

This watch stopped working for me within a week of owning it. As other reviewers have already said, the mechanics in this watch are faulty, and the watch will often just stop, regardless of how wound up it is. Eventually, my watch stopped and never started again, so I was forced to return it.

It really is a beautiful watch, so it's a shame it's so flawed. Additionally, not having number markers of any sort of the watch was a bit irritating, but it's easy enough to get used to it and learn how to guesstimate the time. And this watch is LOUD.

I replaced this watch with an almost identical Adee Kaye watch (Adee Kaye Mechanical See-Thru Skeleton Watch Model AK-4005), which has been working perfectly for the past three months. This is odd, since both the Akribos and the Adee Kaye seem to have the exact same mechanical design, but the Adee Kaye doesn't seem to have the same design flaw that causes the Akribos to stop working.

If you want to choose Akribos XXIV watch in part because it carries a warranty, please be warned that Akribos XXIV does not honor its warranty. It's been 1 year since I made a request for warranty replacement and I still have not received a response.

I bought this watch for my boyfriend. He loves how it looks and received compliments on it the first day he had it on. But we noticed that the watch doesn't keep time as long as other mechanical hand winds. I have an Invicta mechanical hand wind and it lasts for 24+ hours. The Akribos Davinci stops after a couple of hours and needs winding to start again.

I really wanted to return it to Amazon, but he just loves how it looks so much that he decided to keep it, and is instead winding it throughout the day so that it doesn't stop. I signed up for the Akribos warranty just in case if it completely fails to turn on.

Edit: The watch is not accurate. By the end of the day, it's one hour ahead of the correct time. He decided to still keep it though purely because it looks good.

This is a beautiful skeleton watch; however, as a mechanical timepiece, this watch fails miserably. After reading several reviews for this watch online (almost all of which reported that the watch doesn't really work well or can't keep time accurately or consistently), I decided to go ahead and order one to see for myself. While I was, of course, concerned about the numerous poor reviews about the watch not being able to keep time, I still thought that perhaps I would get lucky and receive a watch that worked (it's hard to imagine that a company could get away with selling a watch that can't keep time). Needless to say, I received the watch and after winding it, it wouldn't start. A couple gentle jostles also failed to jump start the mechanics. Then, when I tilted the watch vertically, it started to work, but as I watched, within minutes, the mechanics gradually slowed to a complete stop. I never could get it to work, so I returned it. It's such a shame that such a neat-looking watch is so profoundly flawed.

I LOVE IT! Looks great! EXCEPT.......

When the watch flips upside down it stops working. This means if you reach into the air it can be tilted just far enough to stop the mechanism, hence getting incorrect time. One time when I flipped it back upright I had to flick it to get it going again. Its a shame I had to return it. The weight was really nice, and the looks were even better

LOVE IT !!! I have gotten more compliments on this watch, than my Rolex Presidential !!!! It is SO SLEEK and CLASSY ! So glad I bought it !!

My husband ordered this watch on sale, he loved the design and the reviews said it was a decent watch, but when we received it the watch was not telling the time properly. After playing with it for a few days it still was late by a few hours. We don't live in the US, so it was pointless to return it to Amazon, so we kept it and will try to fix it at a watch workshop. The watch is beautiful, too bad it doesn't work.

I described most of it in the pictures I uploaded, but I'm glad I took a leap of faith with this watch. It's awesome. I'm a college student, and I gotta say, if I had an excuse to dress up everyday, I would be wearing this watch. Everything is very simple and elegant. I have a Sturhling automatic (Stuhrling Original Men's 182.33161 Special Reserve 'Millenia' Skeleton Automatic Watch), and like the Akribos, it's awesome, but the internal parts a little obstructed by the brand name framed around the watch face. This watch not only does have a brand name on it (it's inscribed on the rim on the back of the watch and on the band clasp) it doesn't (obviously) even have numbers on its watch face. This allows you to really appreciate the internal workings of the watch. Literally everything is open for you to see (along with those around you). Because it's mechanical, it also isn't as thick as the automatic ones you can buy, and it also really adds a retro-oldschool style that everyone can appreciate.

Cons:
The major problem (as cited on multiple reviews) is that the watch appears to randomly stop and the only way to get it working again is to flick it or tip it or whatever. It also seems to stop exactly at 9:15 and 10 sec. This is because the hour hand is placed too low in the watch so it gets caught on the second hand. This was sooo disappointing. Don't they realize they could sell many more of these watches if they could just fix that ONE and only one problem? I managed to fix it so now it works just as well as my other watches, but it really is an unfortunate defect.

Regardless. It's a beautiful watch in every way. It's classy but not flashy, and everybody who's seen it has asked to look at it ("Oh wow, THAT WATCH IS SOOO COOL!"). I would recommend that people really look into this watch. Online pics and reviews can only get you so far, but I hope this review offers a little more substance for others to use.

I love watches. This one in particular is just Great. It is flashy and you will get compliments for it. The only down to it its that it makes a loud sound for the tic. It can drive you crazy if you pay only attention to it but if you are just doing something else you wont notice it. I recommend this watch, looks good and it works great.
