I bought this watch new, but it arrived as a second hand watch. It was the first disappointment.
Amazon was great because I was contacted right away by customer service to solve the problem.

The watch was beautiful... and that's as far as it goes for the denomination "watch". There is nothing else in this watch could qualify it as a watch. It is just a beautiful thing on your wrist that happens to look like a watch.
Also, it is NOT water resistant AT ALL.

After a month wearing it, it stopped working.

Contacted Akribos, horrible customer service. If you contact them through their website, you will go no where. No one would answer you and you would get a "returned mail" from them saying that your email is rejected by their system. If you contact them by email, they deliberately wrote a wrong email address on their website so you will Never be able to reach them. They add a "R" in Arkib"R"os.
I found that out and got an email from them, telling me that I don't know how to wind the watch, but the watch is tightly wound! The problem is mechanical, the spring just popped out that's why it stopped working. Also it is A AUTOMATIC watch! Not a SELF WIND WATCH. It winds itself! Apparently even Akribos customer service does not their products well.

Since then NO NEWS from AKRIBOS. Very bad customer service!

Contacted Amazon and got a very quick response and also got a full refund. Amazon is great for customer service so please don't buy with any other sellers, NOT even the Amazon market place seller because you will not be dealing with Amazon but some individuals that sell things on Amazon.

With Amazon nothing can go wrong, and even if it did go wrong, Amazon is always there to help and find the best solutions for customers.

Yes buy from Amazon, but just Don't ever buy Akribos.

    Amazon 5 stars.
    Akribos Zero star!

I purchased one of these watches and when it arrived, the innards are silver and lack the swirly pattern that you see in the pictures. It was much duller than it appears in the pictures too, giving the appearance of cheapness. It looked nice, but it definitely wasn't what I paid for. I sent it back for a refund.

If you want to choose Akribos XXIV watch in part because it carries a warranty, please be advised that Akribos XXIV does not honor its warranty. It's been 1 year since I made a request for warranty replacement and I still have not received a response.

Looking over the reviews for this and other Akribos watches, I may be the exception rather than the rule, but mine is still working and keeping good time (took 3+ weeks to be off more than a minute). It looks gorgeous (better in person), is easy to read, has a more or less sweeping second hand (seems like 6 beats per second), and has both automatic & manual winding (some only offer automatic and having a manual option is great). The strap is OK (not great, but also not rubbish).

I mentioned it's easy to read, but do note that it becomes nearly impossible due to distortion from the crystal at obtuse angles.

    Pros:
    looks
cost (especially when you find a deal)
    automatic and manual winding
keeps good time (for me at least)
    a good starter watch

    Cons:
    reliability (based on other reviews)
    price variance
mysterious manufacturer (seem to have no service support based on other reviews and I certainly can't find even a web site)

If you want to dive into the world of automatic (mechanical movement) watches, this is an inexpensive and solid all-around choice. A Seiko 5, Orient, or a better Invicta are likely upgrades from here.

Wrong watch was sent I'm not gonna bother to return it because Abrikos has no website guy selling this is real company they said they would take it back but I have to pay to ship it back. I ordered a brown strap to get rid of the yellow one that was on the yg model it sucks the yellow strap. Watch face loooks nice and has shown that it will run and not stop after two minutes like some other automatics that I have bought through amazon. If the correct watch was sent I would rate 5 stars but I'll rate 3 cause even though the wrong watch was sent it works very well for now. Buyer beware box cover gives a website but there is nothing when you search on the web After doing research it is a sister company of I've only had for a few days well just have to see.

I bought a brown strap for the YG model wound it up, set the time and it has run constantly a day and a half to be precise. Watch did not stop when I took it off to go to sleep..
Keeps great time. So I'd have to say. This one is a keeper.12/6/12. Now giving four stars.

12/12/12 make sure not to overwind when you start watch up every time it usually runs for a day plus when it is going. I almost made mistake of over winding and almost ruined The watch. It still runs really good.

Great watch considering the cost. For those who are used to heavy watches this one feels unusually light... Other than that great buy!

This looked real nice in pictures. Advertized as being list price ~$500 and a super buy. You get what you pay for. What I thought was a real leather band was actually made out of plastic/rubber. It was a gift so by the time I got to use it I found that the minute was loose and would move randonly but was too late to return it. I took it to a jeweler and had them repair a brand new watch
