Akro-Mils 5905 Plastic Parts Storage Case for Hardware and Craft, Large, Clear

Electronics, clockwork, models; these are all things I work with on a daily basis, and they are all things that involve lots of tiny parts. I have tried every brand of these kind of cases available to me, and was always left frustrated. The Akro Mils model, however, is just about perfect in every way.

While they cost about the same as their competitors, and appear to be quite similar to them to the unexperienced, there are a couple of details that really set Akro Mils cases apart from the rest. The first thing I noticed when I saw them in the store was the relatively large latch on the front. Where most other cases have two, flimsy latches, the 05905 has a super-sturdy one that seals shut the whole front of the thing nicely. This probably isn't a huge deal for folks that are using this for beads and other light-weight stuff, but heavy-duty hardware has a habit of popping lesser cases open when jostled about.

The hinges on the back are similarly sturdy, though not too different from the other cases. They are true hinges, however, which is nice (opposed to the cheaper cases where the lid and the case are all one piece, and the "hinges" are just thinner pieces of plastic that bend and will eventually fatigue and break).

The thing that really makes these cases great, however, is the grid of grooves molded into the "floor" of the case and the "ceiling" of its lid. When the lid is closed, these grooves seal off each compartment by effectively giving them each their own lid. Most cases like this have similar dividers that you slide into vertical grooves, but very small or flat items always seem to work their way under and over them. This simply does not happen with these Akro Mils cases, however, even if you shake them or turn them upside down. I'm sure you couldn't *actually* keep liquids separate in one of these, but you almost could!

This storage case had everything I was looking for: Large size, molded-in divider slots in the lid and bottom, good lid hinge, and enough dividers for the number of slots available. One big problem though, the latch "hinge" which is really just a thinned down section of the plastic is very thin, in fact mine arrived already cracked and I had to return it.

I've been looking for a case to store small fasteners that'll will keep the fasteners from getting mixed together in my work truck. So far this case has been the answer. Hopefully it'll stand the test of time.

These boxes are perfect for storing slides after scanning. Each box will hold about 725 slides. The lid locks and the contents cannot slide around inside, even when tipped on end.

So glad to find these at Amazon, Joanne's stores used to carry them, and now do not. I make jewelry and use them for storage of semi-precious stones I buy. They stack well,and hold a lot; have 27 to date.

Just bought two of these. I use this style of plastic storage box in my business. Usually there are two small cheaply made clasps that lock the top closed, and those break off after a few months of use. This box, instead, has one giant clasp that runs most of the front edge. It is a much better design. I am buying many more of this box.

I was very much impressed by these trays. They used the best plastic and it is very well designed. They are designed to be stacked so they don't easily fall over the place and the top snaps securely.

My kids collect rocks and they needed a storage container that was sectioned and sturdy. So far, it hasn't let us down. No cracks and the sections can be made as large or small as needed.

This box is the perfect size for my candle scent samples. It holds a 2 oz jar perfectly. The box is good quality, however, the latch could be a little better, I have fears that it will not hold or will break off quickly, therefore a 4 star rating instead of 5 stars.

Almost verything about this is great, I know ur looking at it because of the grid in the lid that keeps very small flat items in place. Well the lid has a grid so that it can be carried or stored vertically. But the latch is terrible, it will not hold, so whats the point of a grid lid if the latch wont keep the lid closed. I bought two of these, its not a defect flaw, its the design. Trust me dont buy these unless u will store them flat and carry them flat.
