5.0 out of 5 stars Hail the Inventor of Alt/Country
I have been listening to this reord for 34 years and it still sounds fresh and new. 1972! Al Anderson is the guitar player that Jerry Garcia wanted to grow up to be. Al has respect for tradition, and a sly, innovative take on roots music. He sings with warmth and humor, and has been massively (pun intended) influential on all sorts of musicians all over the world...

This Album is pure excellence. If you like NRBQ you simply must have this album. You will keep it in your player for a week when you get it. This Album truly shows what a genius big AL is.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, fun, fun, timeless rock n' roll from NRBQ's Big Al., September 12, 1999

If you love NRBQ, you'll scream over this early solo release from guitarist/lead Big Al. Fun, catchy, original, roots, foot-tappin' rock and roll. This album previews and hints at the great stuff that Al would write for the Q in the 70s, 80s, and early 90s.

I was born the year after this CD was released. Shows you that I didn't grow up on NRBQ like many of the others here. Can't say I'd ever heard of NRBQ before this. I think I discovered this CD by browsing around here on Amazon. I do know that this is the type of CD that I like to just put on, kick back, jump up, whatever. Kinda has that grooving, rocking, soulful sound thats great for a lot of different afternoons, evenings, maybe even a morning or two. Anyway, Big Al, you did right on this one....

I discovered Al when he started playing with NRBQ,and felt that, not only were they one of the greatest live bands I had ever seen, but also that Big Al himself was phenomenal. As soon as I heard that this album existed, I bought it, and found it to be every bit as enjoyable as any of the beloved NRBQ releases from that time period. Stand out cuts include "We'll Make Love" and "Ain't No Woman Finer Lookin'", but there isn't a bad cut on the album, and the CD recording is very good for the time period. On a personal note- when I was in the hospital, recovering from some serious surgery, this CD was one the the main ones playing on my headphones, as I lay in a daze . I know it helped get me through some tough times.
