5.0 out of 5 stars Heart And Soul Singer, August 3, 2007
This review is from: Al Bowlly and the Great British Bands (Audio CD)
Al Bowlly was arguably the finest crooner of the thirties, whose services were in demand by a variety of British dance bands, some of which are represented here. The compilation spans the years 1931 to 1940, and apart from the usual suspects, allows us to hear him with some lesser-known bands, including Jock McDermott and Reginald Williams. You may have some of these sides on other compilations, but you're unlikely to have all of them.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sampler?, June 10, 2007
This review is from: Al Bowlly and the Great British Bands (Audio CD)
I'm familiar with a couple of songs on this cd, like "Proud of You" which is a very unique song of a father singing about his son.
However, I played some of the sample songs and all I got was the orchestra, no Al Bowlly.
I rather imagine this cd is a good representation of the 30s music but you would never know it from sampler.
