5.0 out of 5 stars BEST book ever for learning Arabic
I've studied a lot of languages and viewed hundreds of textbooks, and this BY FAR is the best, hands down. I must confess that Arabic is not difficult for me because I'm a native English speaker with fluent Hebrew (I lived in Israel for 5 years). Arabic and Hebrew are closely related. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not for self study
Perhaps if you are studying with a teacher this book would merit another star. However, it does not help much with learning vocabulary. I also agree with a previous reviewer that the Michigan text, although dated, offers clearer explanations of the grammar and with its accompanying tapes is much more helpful for self-study.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST book ever for learning Arabic, May 11, 2009
This review is from: Al-Kitaab fii Tacallum al-cArabiyya with DVD and MP3 CD,: Al-Kitaab fii Ta`allum al-`Arabiyya: A Textbook for Arabic (Part Three) (Arabic Edition) (Paperback)
The DVD is excellent. The vocabulary section at the beginning of each chapter is unbelievable, thorough, and all new words are used in full sentences.

My only complaint is that there aren't more books like this for other languages.
