Alabama Slammer Fixed Blade Knife

I've only had this knife less than a month and went camping with it once it has many great uses it is very durable and has a rubber handle for a secure grip. Over all it's a great knife for just about anything. It's a bit big for wood carving but then again if you buying something this big chances are it's not for carving wood!

This is by no means a quality knife. But then again, when it's sold for this low of a price, you probably shouldn't expect it to be. The handle broke on me after about a month of regular use. The blade wasn't the problem- it was the cheaply made handle. I think the handle is a rubber/plactic alloy not made to withstand regular/sem-rigoruous use.

If you want a cheap, decorative knife then it's a great buy. If you want anything for normal use, however, this isn't the knife for you.

I bought this knife for my 17 year old son and he REALLY likied it. He walked around the house for two days playing with it (he is into martial arts) like he was Rambo or something, it was kinda cute. This knife is very sturdy, and very very sharp. It would work well in the outdoors and be able to handle just about any job thrown at it. It is NOT flimsy in any way. Well worth the money.... a good buy, a BIG kinife.

I recently was looking to purchase a fairly inexpensive backup knife to use for the outdoors. The Alabama Slammer caught my eye for two reasons. First, it looks big and mean. Second, the knife was priced well within my budget. Let me point out what others have said about this knife and compare it to the knife I got.

Smith is exactly correct. It is not a quality knife but its workmanship exceeds the price it is being sold at.

My knife right out of the box is not as sharp as it could be. Expect to take it in for a sharpening when it arrives. I had a hard time getting it to slice a sheet of paper. The knife does feel solid and is surprisingly light however.

Mine feels solid all around. Nothing felt loose whatsoever.

I checked for somewhat sharp edges around the guard and pommel and found none. These areas were smooth without any problems.

This knife is rated 4-stars due to the selling price. You are getting a slightly better knife than what you are paying for but no more. Do not expect this knife to be an SOG Specialty Knife. It does 'look' like a bit like an unfinished product, as mentioned in another review, but it is solid. I will carry this around as a backup knife but by no means will it take the place of my frontline survival/wilderness knife.

i ordered this for my husband to take deer hunting with him i had a hard time finding one being im not really good at picking things like thisout but anyway when i got it in the mail i put it in my husbands sock drawer so that way he would be suprised when he got it he was definately suprised he took it hunting with him that weekend and said the knife worked great!

This bowie was awesome and sharp out of the bow. Using some combat moves, I was able to really slice up the box it came in. Its light enough to be fast in your hands, but heavy enough to be used for any job you can think of, and can be used as a self-defense weapon if needed. You can't go wrong with this knife!

This knife looks and feels very nice. The blade came sharp and the serrated back is extremely sharp. The sheath is nothing special and is a standard nylon. Out of the box, when I tapped the knife on the ground there was some minor vibration, seemingly from the guard, but this is a $10 knife. Other than that, I expect the knife to serve its purpose in the campsite and fishing very well.

This knife is alright. when i would use it to throw it was all right. but after a few hits on the but of the knife it loosens it right up. i would recommend this knife as more of a show piece than to use.
