Save your money! I was very disappointed with this product. Unfortunately all the Stanley® and Thermos® products are chineese made so that does not factor in to the purchase, as heartbreaking as it is. The real problem with this product is that it just does not work as advertised. The concept is great - heat yourself a lunch before work and enjoy at lunch time. In reality it does not work. I have tried two of these in case I had a defective one, but no such thing. I heat soup or chilly scalding hot and seal. Less than three hours later it is barely luke warm. And this is in a heated environment, someone who works outside might as well pack it with ice, it would be just as warm.
I would give it ZERO STARS if that was an option. Regardless of color, the poor thermal quality of this product is the same. Put your money towards a Thermos Work Series®. It may be twice as much and you have to heat using a different container, but your meal will still be HOT at dinner time.

A good product,

I received this thermos for Christmas when I asked for a container in which I could bring leftovers to work and eat with ease -- no microwaving, dirty forks, etc. I love it. I agree it will not keep food as hot as a metal container, but the microwaveable capability and the spoon are the bonuses. If I heat up my food at 7:00, it is warm, but definitely edible, at noon -- that's five hours. If I heat up food in another container, and fill it full, like soup, it will be piping hot at noon. I have often burned my tongue. So, if you are already heating your food up in another container for a metal thermos, this does the same. But it's nice to have the microwave option. And the spoon? I fold it back up, put it in the container, and put the lid -- no mess.

Food = Lukewarm - Chinese-Made,

It's true - this Stanley food jar does not live up to the name Stanley. Don't waste your hard-earned money for this Chinese-made plastic impostor of the original Stanley quality. I have this food jar and don't even bother to use it anymore because the food gets lukewarm in a couple of hours. You can spend less or about the same on eBay and get a vintage metal U.S. made Stanley Wide Mouth Food Jar that will keep your food hot for the whole day. I did that and am so much happier. I now buy vintage American-made Thermoses and food jars. All of them keep my food and beverages hot all day and the vintage thermoses even hot over night and into the next morning!

I bought this at Fred Meyer priced at $8.99. You can't expect "plastic material" for any food thermo to keep food hot all day long. If it's stainless steel on the inside like Stanley's Vaccum Wide-Mouth Food Jar, then it will keep the food hot all day (I have this one as well). I bought this Heatkeeper because of the size & design that works well for me. Even though the Heatkeeper says it's microwavable-proof, I don't heat this in the microwave just to avoid wear & tear of the Heatkeeper (I do this with all of my plastic containers). I prefer to transfer the contents of my food (e.g. soup or broth to heat up for soup) into a "glass" bowl container when heated in microwave. Other than that, this Chinese-made Stanley Heatkeeper has worked well for me. It probably depends on the store you buy this at too. I don't want to go thru the trouble ordering a U.S.-made on Ebay, that's nonsense --just for the sake of this "plastic" Heatkeeper.
