Being disabled, with often shaky and clumsy hands, I tend to splash and spill a lot of coffee from my mug on the way back to my home office -- even while in my wheelchair! This Aladdin mug is perfect for several reasons: it is large and well-insulated -- saving me trips back to the kitchen coffee machine, it has a drink-thru cover -- so no more splashes, and it has a wide, non-skid base -- so I cannot knock it over! This mug is fairly pricey, but it is worth every penny to a person like me! (Also, it would probably be great for you commuters!) And it takes a while to ship, so order with that in mind...

Ignore that last review. These things are AMAZING. The last reviewer is uninformed and doesn't know how to follow directions. First off, it says very clearly on the bottom of the mug, DO NOT MICROWAVE. This direction is actually molded into the plastic itself, not printed on. And there is foil inside, and as most of us learned when we were children, you do not put any sort of metal in the microwave in the first place. As for the weight... it's somewhat heavy because it's almost completely solid plastic all the way through! It is against federal law to use lead in any sort of product that has anything to do with food or drink, so I'm not sure where the last reviewer got that one from. No lead... period. It's weight lends to it's excellent stability, this thing does NOT tip over unless you literally punch it. It's stury and solid and has this neat little rubber ring on the bottom that keeps it from slipping too. I dropped mine the other day on concrete from waist height and the thing wasn't even scratched. SOLIDLY BUILT. It also has the directions "handwash only" on the bottom, do not put it in the dishwasher!

I have had no problems with the placement of the screw lid. I find it efficiently placed and easy to drink from with no problems whatsoever. As for the difficulty drinking from it without the lid... it's a **Travel Mug**, not a coffee cup, it's supposed to be that way. You aren't supposed to use it without the lid.

It keeps hot things hot for hours and cold things cold for many hours. It does it job as well if not better than anything else out there. It's the best travel mug that I've ever owned. I've bought several for family and friends as where I work at we are only allowed to use mugs with spill-proof lids. These things are all the rage and now everyone wants one and wants to know where I got it from. Others have figured out the quality of these mugs as well, which is why when Amazon gets any at all in stock they sell out the same day. I highly recommend these!

Don't microwave it, and don't put it in the dishwasher!

This was overall a good product. It holds a lot of coffee, has grip on the bottom for no slip, and with a turn of the top can be used for right or left handed people without taking the lid off. This product I bought as a gift and he loves it!
