LATEST price guide on Aladin kerosene mantle lamps -out of print., July 23, 2011
This review is from: Aladdin Collectors Manual & Price Guide #22, Kerosene Mantle Lamps (Paperback)
This #22 price guide, copyright 2006, is the latest edition focusing on Aladdin "kerosene" mantle lamps.
This is the companion to the full size 8 3/4" x 11 1/4" x 7/8" thick book "Aladdin the magic name in lamps" by J.W. Courter, copyright 1997.
On the spine of the book is stated "REVISED EDITION".
All price guides are of assistance giving a good starter kit of information.
The price guides focusing on kerosene are more of a 'stand alone' reference then the price guide focusing on electric. The kerosene doesn't keep referring to pages in the big book as the electric does. But even so it is really beneficial to own, or borrow from your local library the 'revised edition' of the big book.
This latest kerosene price guides contains;
1. Information on mantle lamps from the first one in 1908, to the reproductions of 2003.
2. One page of history of the company.
3. Introduction to the manual & price guide. There it is stated, "The manual is most useful in combination with the book Aladdin - The Magic Name in Lamps, Revised Edition"
4. How to determine the collector value of Aladdin lamps, the & percent of value deducted for lamps in less then excellent condition.
5. Collecting kerosene Aladdins, and tips.
6. Wick raiser knobs to identify models numbers.
7. Models of Aladdin tabel lamps, Practicus & madels 1 through 12.
8. Aladdin vase lamps.
9. All model A and B glass tabel lamps.
10. Wall bracket lamps.
11. Caboose lamps.
12. Model B floor lamps.
13. Hanging Aladdin lamps.
14. Hanging lamp shades.
15. Aladdin tabel lamp glass shades.
16. Aladdin paper shades.
17. Model C, -- 21C, -- 23.
18. Original Aladdin parts, and accessories.
19. Foreign models.
20. Aladdinette candle lamp, from the 1920's.
21. Alacite glass dishware and smoking items.
22. Advertising and printed materials.
23. Putting old kerosene Aladdin lamps in order.
24. Interchangeability of Aladdin parts.
25. How to tell new lamps from the originals.
26. Reproduction shades.
There have been several companion price guides for the 'revised edition' big book since is was published in 1997.
There are more editions then this, but these are the ones I know about;
1. #12 in 1988, Aladdin Collectors Manual & Price Guide, Kerosene Mantle Lamps,
2. #14 in 1992,
3. #15 in 1994,
4. #18 in 1998,
5. #19 in 2000,
6. #20 in 2001,
7. #21 in 2004,
8. #22 in 2006,
