It took me a LONG time to find a coffee mug that was dishwasher safe, was BPA free, didn't leak and kept coffee hot on my husband's commute to work. I don't remember how I stumbled upon these mugs, but they fit the bill to a tee. I bought 4 of these mugs and my husband says they are great. We highly recommend them.

*The lid screws on tight and spill proof, but there is a half-moon-type of opening on top that you're supposed to drink out of. The only way to 'close' it is with the flat piece of plastic that twists over the opening or to the side so you can drink. If the mug is full and you turn it upside down or on its side... yes, it will leak. If you have it full and twist the cover shut while you drive or go out to your car, you're not going to have spilling issues. There is a 1/2" lip that goes all the way around the top to keep your liquid from going over the side and spilling.

This mug does just what it says. It fits in my car cupholder and keeps my drinks warm on the way to school every morning. The best part is, I can throw it in the dishwasher instead of handwashing everyday! I bought 4 with the buy 3 get a 4th discount. They were totally worth it. Only drawback is that the cover only blocks splashes, it definitely is NOT spill proof. But as long as you're not a clutz, you're fine :)

The tumbler style has a definite advantage over the mug (with handle) style. There's no problem with aligning the drink opening at a 90 degree angle to a handle.

The screw top lid with a gasket is better than a snap on lid, because it doesn't dribble through the lid/mug seal (so far.) Also, the lid is pretty well ventilated for a good flow, and it seals well when the opening is closed off.

I had another pretty good insulated tumbler from Dunkin Donuts that was double walled acrylic. After a short time, the acrylic started to develop fine cracks inside and leaked between the walls. The material on this tumbler is not as brittle and I don't think it would crack, even if it bounced off a hard floor.

I've also had a few cups with a lid made of a black rubbery type of material that would taste (and smell) rubbery, especially when the coffee is hottest (no bad taste or smell with this one.)

I have never found, or expect to find, any cup that insulates as well as I would like, so that's really not an issue. I think that if you want it hot, drink up and don't expect miracles. If this cup stands up to my daily use for a few months, I'll probably buy a couple extra, just in case.

I searched many a review to find the perfect travel cup to use for my wake up tea as I'm commuting to work. I read the ceramic cup reviews and the gigantic coffee mugs and ultimately settled on buying a pair of these wonderful Aladdin travel cups. The lids make a positive lock and it's not made of that cheap plastic that changes the taste of your tea and coffee like some mugs do. It's narrow design affords me the ability to easily transport it in my beverage holder. The holder should be deep enough to keep it from bouncing out. If your cup holder is only 1 1/2 inches high and you put this tall boy in, then first bounce it's out of there! It insulates very well and seems to be an insulated air pocket around the perimeter. It does not dent, for the plastic is very thick. Surprisingly the cup is not overly heavy though. I read a lot of reviews on other cups discussing spill proof as a concern so I will address that on this cup. It has a flap on top that swivels to prevent splashing. It is not spill proof nor do they advertise that it is. Spill proof to me while driving is not necessary. I'm not a toddler. I just need to keep the liquid from splashing when I'm hitting the numerous New Jersey potholes on my one hour commute to work everyday. Hope this helps you decide. Mark

For me, microwavable wins out over insulation: I can usually rewarm it. If you're looking for a mug to keep you toasty during your kid's winter football games, however, this one isn't for you.

These had excellent reviews, and I wanted a new travel mug. As someone noted, this one doesn't prevent spills - I just cleaned up a mess and know this for a fact. Be sure to put it in the cup holder if there's any chance it could shift. Also, it doesn't keep my coffee very hot. After about 45 minutes it's lukewarm. On top of that, if the cup isn't full, and you tilt it to drink, it can come out really fast and spill all over you. This was only my second day using the mug, and all of these things have already happened. I wanted this to replace a good metal mug that I really liked, except that it was very difficult to clean inside the lid (around the spring release mechanism). But this has not been a step in the right direction as far as cleaning goes! The mug itself is easy to clean, but it has resulted in time spent cleaning spilled coffee and reheating cold coffee in the microwave.

It's dishwasher safe! (This was the main factor in my decision to buy this mug.) And made from recycled material! And recyclable too!

I bought these on a quest to find a dishwasher safe travel mug, and they do their job well. They don't leak, reduce spilling, and keep my coffee warm. I subtracted one star, because they don't actually keep the coffee warm very well. Well enough - if you're looking for something to get you to work, but not if you're planning on consuming your beverage a few hours after you fill the mug.

I use it during the morning while I'm at work.
It does keep my Green tea hot for about 2 1/2 hours, before it begins to cool down.

You can't beat that it's Eco-friendly, strong enough to take a hit and not break. Plus the price makes it easy to purchase more than one.

If Aladdin updates this mug, hopefully they will add a rubber grip.

We bought four of these travel mugs over a year ago and use them every day for college/work. They work great. We put mug and lid in the dishwasher daily and the seal still closes tight. Would buy them again anytime. A+++
Just one thing to consider. The opening to drink out of is not watertight, so if you will flip the mug over 180 degrees, it will leak. But why would you do that? ... It never spills in the car or if you shake it around a bit, so it doesn't matter to me.
