5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!
I have searched and searched for a decent travel mug for work. I needed one that was sturdy, kept things hot and was dish washer safe. I have had a tough time finding one that worked for me. I had a prettyone, and it broke. First the handle when I dropped it once, and then the cover when, ooops! I dropped it again. ( lots to carry ALL the time)

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't get burned!
I don't understand why this has such good reviews. Even the person who gave all the negatives rated it 3 stars.
Pros: Looks nice, decent price, microwave/dishwasher safe, fits in cup-holder, works as a NON-travel mug.
Cons: Leaks! Does not sip well! Does not travel well!
The issue is not the lid itself, which has a rubber gasket and fits well. There's a...

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!, February 28, 2010

I have searched and searched for a decent travel mug for work. I needed one that was sturdy, kept things hot and was dish washer safe. I have had a tough time finding one that worked for me. I had a prettyone, and it broke. First the handle when I dropped it once, and then the cover when, ooops! I dropped it again. ( lots to carry ALL the time)

I had another, not pretty, didn't keep things warm. I had one that I "borrowed"from my husband, and it could not be put into the microwave.

I don't even know how I found this one. It cost half of the price of the pretty one, was more comfortable to hold than the ugly one, and can go into the microwave. Furthermore, it is made from recycled materiel and can be recycled. It goes into the dishwasher, and even though I have fairly small hands, it is easy to carry. I don't see it breaking, because it has none of that rigid plastic, and nothing to come off. And I like the color.

Really now, what more could I ask?

Mug is simple and easy to clean. No "oooo" look at me big fancy pants mug, that so many walk around with.

I have not had any problems with this leaking after 6 months of routine use; I think leakage from the lid seal or swivel top is the primary failure of reusable mugs. I got a second one because this worked so well.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't get burned!, July 20, 2010
This review is from: Aladdin Recycled and Recyclable Tumbler (Kitchen)
I don't understand why this has such good reviews. Even the person who gave all the negatives rated it 3 stars.
Pros: Looks nice, decent price, microwave/dishwasher safe, fits in cup-holder, works as a NON-travel mug.
Cons: Leaks! Does not sip well! Does not travel well!
The issue is not the lid itself, which has a rubber gasket and fits well. There's a rotating plastic tab to cover/uncover the opening, and it always leaks. Tilt it, and it will leak. I don't like coffee or tea, I drink either hot chocolate, hot lemonade, or hot limeade. These taste better when shaken periodically, but try that with this mug and you'll burn your hand. I even tried pressing down tight on the tab while shaking, to no avail. I ask what is the point of a travel mug that is unsuitable for travel? Furthermore, it's difficult to sip from the lid. There's a very fine line for safe sipping: don't tilt enough and nothing comes out; tilt too much and it gushes out and you'll burn your nose and chin. If your car hits a bump while you're sipping, be ready for some mild burns and a wet shirt.
Bottom line: It's a travel mug that's horrible for travel. Works ok at home without the lid. But then, why wouldn't you just use a normal ceramic mug?

5.0 out of 5 stars A great mug!, February 15, 2011

I have tried so many travel mugs and hated them all. I was skeptical but decided to give this one a try. I love it! It keeps beverages warm, the lid fits snugly, and best of all DISHWASHER SAFE! I'm a germ freak and love the fact I can toss this in the dishwasher to get it squeaky clean. I also love that it doesn't get the weird smell the stainless steel mugs do after a few washings, and there is no risk of water getting trapped in places like some of the more decorative travel mugs. I own this in both green and blue. Both shades are very pretty.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the perfect travel mug, November 19, 2009

This review is from: Aladdin Recycled and Recyclable Tumbler (Kitchen)
These had excellent reviews, and I wanted a new travel mug. As someone noted, this one doesn't prevent spills - I just cleaned up a mess and know this for a fact. Be sure to put it in the cup holder if there's any chance it could shift. Also, it doesn't keep my coffee very hot. After about 45 minutes it's lukewarm. On top of that, if the cup isn't full, and you tilt it to drink, it can come out really fast and spill all over you. This was only my second day using the mug, and all of these things have already happened. I wanted this to replace a good metal mug that I really liked, except that it was very difficult to clean inside the lid (around the spring release mechanism). But this has not been a step in the right direction as far as cleaning goes! The mug itself is easy to clean, but it has resulted in time spent cleaning spilled coffee and reheating cold coffee in the microwave.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keeps coffee hot all the way to work!, November 17, 2009

I love this cup. I have two and just ordered three more. It is the only travel cup that I have that keeps my coffee hot for a long drive to work. It is also dishwasher and microwave safe.

I just wanted to follow up on the comments about the trouble with "sip-ability" of this mug... make sure the air hole is clear and there won't be a problem. Liquid does clog the air hole pretty easily if you fill the mug to the very top.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice but it DOES leak., January 4, 2012

It's a great size, the color is beautiful, it is recycled and it can be recycled (Excellent!) but it DOES leak. I find it hard to believe that people have this same model and it does not leak. I didn't buy it with the intention of turning it upside down or anything but if you fill it up; and I always leave a bit of space between the top of the liquid and the lid mind you; it will slosh up and out between the spaces of the closing mechanism. This cup is put into a side compartment on my briefcase and it isn't being shaken that much. The same company makes a different lid in the same eCycle line that has a flip mechanism that I'm sure would work better. I think is called the Aladdin Transform. One reviewer stated that this model is a little hard to drink from. I agree but I think that most travel mugs are a little difficult to drink from. I haven't spilled any tea on myself yet. Yet.
PS:This was an impulse buy for me in a local CVS.

Doesn't keep things warm or cold long, but I knew that. It is green. It goes in the dishwasher and it has not spilled coffee all over me yet.
