Editorial Reviews

Known by some as the Ethiopian Elvis, Alameyahu Eshete was the ultimate modernist. His music combined R&B, Ethiopian groove, soul, rock n' roll & traditional Ethiopian music to create something truly unique. This LP features a collection of his 45's recorded between 1967 & 1974. Back to back true classics. The 4th in our continuing series of releases culled from the monumental Ethiopiques series. Limited edition of 2,000.

I was recommended this album by a friend and bought it after hearing just 2 songs. It has quickly become my favorite African album. The songs are mostly up-tempo ethiopian jazz/funk and bridge the gap between the rock & roll of African and English speaking countries very well. Eshete's vocal styling is remeniscent of 60s Bollywood. I have no idea what he's saying but it makes me want to dance. I highly recommend you buy this.
