Whatever you thought of Alanis in 1995 and whatever you think of her now (if you're like me, that's two pretty different things), there's no denying that JLP was much more than a megahit record. (Mentally compare it to, say, Def Leppard's "Hysteria" and you'll see what I mean.) It was perfectly in tune with its moment and it hit millions of people where they live. (And not just grouchy middle-class white girls either, contrary to legend. The look of rapture of the face of an Indonesian male fan as he sings along with the lyrics can tell you that.) She says she thought of retiring after it came out and frankly, she might as well have. There really was nowhere for her to go but down.
Other people here have complained about the way most songs on this video are assembled from snippets of many different performances given months and countries apart (with widely varying levels of audio quality), and I see their point. This does compromise the integrity of the music, strictly speaking. But it does assemble a fascinating portrait of the JLP phenomenon which, viewed as a whole, is a lot more interesting than any single concert taped in Dallas (or Sydney, or Buenos Aires) ever could be.
Watching it unfurl again at this distance in time - even knowing that there wouldn't be, strictly speaking, a happy ending - is still a remarkable experience. Just seeing this horse-faced young Canadian woman with a few more artistic pretentions than she can support and 8 or 9 terrific songs in her backpack speaking to legions of people in literally every corner of the globe is enough to make you to believe in music all over again.

I bought this tape because I thought it'd show all of her videos of her songs. It didn't. It wasn't a big dissappointment, although some scenes in there have horrible shots and audio recordings. If you're a big die-hard fan of Alanis Morissette, you gotta buy it, just because it's Alanis. But if you're not, like me, it's really nothing to get hyped up about. Buy the video for kicks if you want, but don't expect some awesome clips in there.

The style of this video, I believe, reflects that of the "Little Pill" itself. From raw concert footage and rehearsals, to poetic moments and random isights, this is the perfect look at Early Alanis and her art. Whether it reflects her view of life at the time or her feelings on the topics of her songs, this video plainly reveals that she is a brilliant piece of work, and her life, like all of ours, is rapidly changing. This tour video is a must-see for those who respected and followed her first album (her second takes a quite noticeably different and more personal approach). Although Alanis does not strive to cause a profound affect on the world, inevitably, she "can't not".

Jagged Little Pill, Live is now looking back at her in tour singing songs from jagged Little Pill. Watch as the dazzling Alanis Morissette bounces around the stage having a really good time. Take a look backstage with her band members. Hear songs like No Pressure Over Capuccino and Can't Not that aren't on jagged Little Pill. You really should own this movie if you are a true Alanis Nadine Morissette fan!!! have fun= )

I have the CD's from the time they came out and I love all of Alanis' music, however Ye Be Yarned you will be terribly disappointmed in the quality, which was very very, very poor. There is a lot of hiss and background distortion. And all the different performances take away from the overall quality of this concert instead of adding to it. It's not even a concert, just a hodge podge of live clips filmed very poorly. Plus the concert piece shown the most doesn't appear to be her best work compared to other performances we get a glimpse of. What was the most disappointing for me was at the close during the credits, the song "No Pressure Over Cappuccino" was played but they teased me! They didn't play the entire song. I wanted to go out and buy it, but it wasn't on any album or single that I could find at the time I bought this video, but later I was very happy when the song was finally released on the live MTV album "Alanis Unplugged" (This album is excellent by the way. Be sure to check it out)which recovered my feelings. I think this is my favorite song by Alanis. Be sure to go find it if you don't have it or know about it already.
