About the Author
Joseph Puryear has spent the last 15 years exploring the peaks of the Central Alaska Range. He has also climbed extensively throughout the United States and Canada and particularly enjoys the Cascade Range of Washington State. Other climbing adventures have taken him to Argentina, Chile, China, Mexico, Nepal, Peru, Switzerland, and Thailand. Joseph is an avid photographer. More of his photography can be viewed at his website www.cascadeimages.com. In 2004 he married Talkeetna, Alaska local Michelle O’Neil on the Pika Glacier near Denali. When not enjoying their small cabin in Talkeetna, Joe and Michelle make their home in Leavenworth, Washington.

This is a must have book for Alaskan climbing. Joe's insight makes the book interesting along with being technically relevant. The drawing and his amazing photography makes this my favorite climbing book in my library. Nice job Joe.

This is an excellent guidebook. It has great photos and maps and gives more than enough information to be comfortable climbing any of the routes. As a lifelong Alaskan and having climbed in the Alaska Range myself, I think this guide is invaluable for any climber going there. Whether you're climbing rock routes on the Ruth or skiing the Sultana Ridge on Foraker, this guide is a must have.
