A friend of mine got one of these bowls for Xmas and raved about it, and when I visited her a few weeks later; I was surprised how small the bowl was. I was in charge of making salsa that day for the Super Bowl and let me tell you, I have never seen anything chop so well, and without stuff flying all over the place. I have just received my Ulu after hearing my neighbors rave about theirs. While the price here seems good ($29.95) I was unpleasantly surprised to get charged an additional $11 for shipping and handling. The item appears to be of average quality with only minimal sanding on the bowl.

I was a little skeptical at first, but after using this chopping bowl I was addicted. I don't trust the internet so I bought one at Wall-Mart, but it was not the same, too cheap, I broke down and trusted Amazon(first time online buy)and within a few days my bowl was delivered. I'm starting to re-think this internet thing. Tina NM

5.0 out of 5 stars This is such a nice addtion to my kitchen, December 8, 2003
This review is from: Alaskan Ulu Bowl and Knife with Instrutional DVD & Cookbook - Bald Eagle Etched Art
This is such a great chopping bowl and it's so much easier to use than a regular chopping board. Everything stays inside the bowl while you chop and I can even put it in the refrigerator to keep the chopped contents cold while I cook. Clean up was as easy as the manufacturer said, just rinse it off. The only thing negative I found was that I wish it had rubber feet to keep it level on tile. My husband added some little feet within a couple of minutes so no big deal, just a thought. You will love this item and I have given a few to friends as gifts.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE This Knife!, April 20, 2004

I have this knife and cutting board set. You can't beat it for chopping herbs, garlic cloves, etc. I use this more often than the mini-bowl on my food processor, as it's faster and easier to clean.

Also, the knife itself makes an excellent pizza cutter!

and I use it everyday. Of course, I use it to chop and dice, but also to cut pizza and sandwiches. The size, grip and weight is just right for me..not too long or heavy. I have sharpened it once in the 6 yrs or so I have had it.

I own this set. I bought it while in a store while visiting Alaska this summer. Bought one for my parents as a souvenior and after seeing a demonstration in another store. Decided that I just had to have one. Both of my parents love it, and so do I. Chops vegitables for salads so quickly. My 11yr old finds this easier to use than a regular knife. I love this ulu so much that I am now buying more from Amazon to give as Christmas Gifts.

5.0 out of 5 stars egg-celent, December 1, 2006

I purchesed this set just befor thanksgiving, so I decided to try it when making my develed eggs. What a handy tool. The knife has a fine sharpe edge that divided the eggs smoothly. The rocking effect made chopping up the fresh parsly easy. I ordered a few more for x-mas gifts.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Alaskan Ulu Bowl and Knife with Instrutional DVD & Cookbook - Bald Eagle Etched Art
My sister, who lived in Alaska, bought me my first Ulu chopping bowl. It is the best thing for chopping onions and other veggies because the pieces stay in the bowl. The chopper is easier than a knife. I've given it as a gift to many people. If you only chop vegetables with it, you can probably get along with only one. However, the onion or garlic smell tends to stay in the wood, and doesn't make it a good vessel for chopping nuts, for instance. If you want to chop other things, get a second Ulu for that purpose.

Great product -- vegetable pieces stay in one place without rolling off the board -- especially great for spices, nuts, dicing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Alaskan Ulu Chopping Bowl and Knife, December 14, 2007
This review is from: Alaskan Ulu Bowl and Knife with Instrutional DVD & Cookbook - Bald Eagle Etched Art
We have had a Ulu Bowl and knife for a couple of years. Can't beat them for chopping produce. We liked them so well that we bought two more for gifts. The vendor Aquarium Consultants performed very well. We would use them again in the future.
