Hope for Children of Alcoholics offers a straightforward description of alcoholism, what Alateen is, how Alateen works, and gives personal stories of teens with alcoholic loved ones. This is a good book for anyone with a family member or friend who is an alcoholic because it answers all the basic questions a person may have, such as: What is alcoholism, Who are alcoholics, Why do alcoholics drink, & Why is Alcoholism called a family disease.
It explains how Alateen can help and gives very thorough information in case someone wonders if they might want to be involved in Alateen. It explains the twelve step approach, how to find or start an Alateen group, plan a meeting, etc.

This book was a very good read and full of experiences to help with self growth. Teens have a hard road already just growing up and adding dealing with alcoholism it can seem so much harder than it has to be. I like this book and it's opneness and I recommend it to teens.

While the book was helpful I was hoping it would give a little more immediate insight into what to do if the teen is living with an alcholic parent.
