Book Description

Albert's an aging rock star who escapes the big city to kick back on a lake in the wilderness . . . no manager, no groupies, no tour bus . . . when out of the blue a hunter blasts the living chopsticks out of his shoulder. Instead of finding himself in a nice cushy ambulance, Albert wakes up in a remote cabin with the man who shot him. The shooter guards the lake, standing by it into the late hours of the night, staring at a strange a light in the depths that only he can see.

ALBERT GOT SHOT is a 4,000 word short story

Not a regular reader of this genre, I found that I was pleasantly surprised with this short story. Great characters, good pacing, and a little sly humor makes Ms. House's work eminently readable.

Barbara House's "Albert Got Shot" utilizes a seamless mix of survival, science fiction and folk humor to weave a short story that's both exciting and fun, even if unfortunate for our wayward fisherman.

I was carried right along by this story, mesmerized by Albert's plight and quite convinced there could be no good ending to this. I was not disappointed!
