5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful music !, October 9, 2011

This review is from: Albert Ketèlbey: Sanctuary of the Heart; In a Persian Market; In a Fairy Realm (Audio CD)
Ketelbey's music is Masonic music, as can also be clearly seen from the album's cover illustration. It mirrors in calm reflection a far more introspective age that had a greater understanding of the harmonic processes of Life than has this hectic, fractured and incoherent age we live in now, and is as soothing as any music can be. Sometimes I feel that I cannot do without such insights into life as this music provides, and even though I am not a Mason, I understand at least in part some of the processes behind what is expressed here so clearly and beautifully. It is also quite amazing, what sound quality can be regained from recordings dating as far back as 1917 !
In this respect, Alexander Faris's more-modern album of Ketelbey music, with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Ambrosian Singers, must definitely be mentioned.
With Ketelbey, one can hardly go wrong !
Five stars, all the way !
George
