5.0 out of 5 stars Lay your head down, darling, the stars are softly shining, December 13, 2011

For the magical, Glenn Close penned, Sinead O'Connor sung "Lay Your Head Down" alone, this is a wonderful soundtrack. Ms. O'Connor's vocal gifts are fresh and lovely, heartwrenchingly so, almost, in this lullaby which ends the soundtrack. What you get as you reach this magical focal point, however, is just as wonderful in its own right. Byrne has become one of my "composers to watch" with his wonderful gift for lyricism and perfect sense of tempo, propelling the music forward, never missing a chance for understated elegance. This soundtrack would have been right at home in a Merchant Ivory production, which is meant as pure praise, and gives you a bit of a touchstone for the feel of the piece. If you are looking for a well composed, sweetly Irish tinged, fully emotive soundtrack, you can't go wrong. And once more, "Lay Your Head Down" is not to be missed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful soundtrack!, February 18, 2012

I can't rave enough about this soundtrack. . . I saw the movie, and could hardly wait to get home and order the soundtrack. It's just so delicate and beautiful, and I simply can't stop listening to it! And while the Sinead O'Connor song is okay (I know - I'm the only one on the planet who isn't head over heels in love with Sinead O'Connor!) it's the rest of the album that is blowing me away!
