About the Author
I was born and raised in Alberta, with the wide-open prairie stretching far toward the east and the peaks of the Canadian Rockies looming large in the west. I grew up watching winter snows dust those mountain peaks, summer thunderstorms rumble across the prairies, early morning fog waft through the coulees, and Northern Lights dance in the clear night skies. IÂ’ve enjoyed a 30 year career travelling and photographing this province, this country and the globe. I know IÂ’m biased, but I think Alberta is the most beautiful place on earth, especially for a photographer.

I just received Daryl Benson's new book, "Alberta - Images by Daryl Benson" which Daryl self-published for Alberta's 100 year birthday in 2005. Folks who know Daryl's work recognize him as one of the most creative nature photographers on the planet. The book is full of amazing photography (as expected) but everything else about the book (layout and design, printing, paper quality etc.) is first rate.IMO this book raises the bar to new standards of what a pictorial book can be, all other photo books seem to pale by comparison. You owe it to yourself to pick up a copy of this book (whether you have any interests or plans to see Alberta is besides the point) because the photos will move and inspire you and you will hold in your hands a sample of what a great photo book looks like. It is also confirms that self-published books have more love and heart put into them than books published by mainstream publishers. Help reward great work and order this book! As previously stated, this book is first rate. The book quality is incredible, the photographs are stunning. I would recommend this book to anyone remotly interested in photography, landscapes, or Alberta.
