La Mentira, alborada, corazon salvaje, etc. dvd,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Alborada (DVD)
I saw the originals broadcast on TV. Liked them so much I bought several of them from Amazon and Wal-Mart. But the DVD are edited SO MUCH, it's unbelievable. So much is chopped up. Can't follow the story line. These Spanish soaps when they make it on DVD get edited by up to 70% that it's a waste of money to purchase them. I won't do so again. Maybe if you the sellers mentioned to your distributors of this problem they would improve the editing. Keep the entire story but sell it for a bit more money. Many people would pay more to get the entire FULL story.

Fantastico!,

I have waited so long for Alborada to be released on DVD! I feel like I have my old friends back again now. The actors are all terrific! I was completely addicted to this telenovela when it was on television and now I can even share it with my non-Spanish-speaking friends. This DVD version does have English subtitles. It has 4 DVDs with about 14 hours of viewing pleasure! If you like costume period dramas with suspense, action, romance and intrigue, Alborada is for you! While I'm sure everyone would love to see the entire, uncut Alborada, this edited version is very good. If you liked Amor Real, you'll love Alborada!

Exceptional Telenovela,

This is an excellent period novel. The actors are well convincing in their roles and there is plenty of action. Includes realistic sword fights and scenes filmed on location instead of in a studio. If you enjoy reading historical romance; you will just love this. Fernando Colunga does an outstanding performance. Daniela Roma shines as the villain in this. Besides the main story, there are several minor subplots between supporting actors which are also very intriguing. Watching the four male lead actors together reminded me a lot of "The Four Musketeers". The background musical score was quite appropriate and enhanced with singing by Placido Domingo. The DVD does have English subtitles for those who are still learning Spanish. I enjoyed it tremendously and wish they would do a sequel. American soap operas don't even come close to this. Highly recommended!

Thus begins the first chapter of Alborada meaning Dawn in english. From the colonies of Panama we meet the innocent Maria Hipolita loyal and loving wife of Antonio Adelaida de Guzman. All seems well as the couple enters society as a it couple for the season unbeknownst to society that the relationship between Antonio and Hipolita is nothing of the sort. Although in love Antonio is impotent and unable to consummate the marriage with his wife. Frusturated he turns to alcohol to assauge his shame. Meanwhile Antonios mother Dona Adelaida de Guzmánwho is disappointed and angry that her son is unable to sire an heir. Desperate that the family may lose the fortune granted to them because there are no heirs dona Adelaida plots with her foreman to drug hiploita and have a stranger consummate the marriage. Enter the dashing Lord Luis Manrique y Arellano nephew to the Duke of Guevara. Framed from a crime he did not commit in Panama Luis is sent to prison only to be offered a lifeline by Dona Adelaida that he will be released from prison only if he sleeps with her daughter in law and sires a child. Agreeing to the scheme so that he can be released Luis goes to hacienda and enters Hipolitas room who is drugged by her mother in law. At Dawn accusations and relizations are revealed Hiplolita is furious to find a stranger has been in her bed, betrayed by her mother in law and lack of support of her husband she flees to Mexico to find the man who fathered her child. Hence the story of Alborada which takes place in Colonial Mexico is filled with intrigue, violence, romance, and all the good stuff a novela has.

I watched Alborada in Univision. I totally loved it. To such an extent that I bought it for my telenovelas collection. Well guess what? Placido Domingo (my idol) does not sing there,(unlike when I saw it in Univision at home) and story is very cut!!! What a dissapointment! Where can i buy an uncut version of telenovelas? Specially Alborada? Would appreciate your help. Anybody knows? Thanks,
Charmaine

FINALLY ALBORADA ON DVD,

I LOVE novelas that are set in the early times!! The costumes are always beautiful and they manage to take you back to a different era!! FERNANDO COLUNGA is a dream!!! He is HOT and will continue to be the most popular male protagonista of my time!!! He is like wine... He trully gets BETTER with age!! And that is only speaking about his looks because his acting is TRULLY great!!! He is the one actor that manages to be great looking even when his character is in an angry scene!! Lucero and Daniela Romo give outstanding performances along with the rest of the cast!!! That is why they won all the awards in the Mexican "TV NOVELAS" award show which is voted on by the public!! I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THIS NOVELA!!! BUY IT AND YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!

Five stars for the original full length Novela (which you don't get with this purchase). One star for the massacred DVD version (which you do get). That makes this a three star purchase. Amazon, please, please find a source that provides these hugely popular Novelas in their original, full length versions!

DVD Abridged version of Alborada: SHAME,
By
This review is from: Alborada (DVD)
It is a shame that these wonderful full length productions like Corazon Salvaje, Amor Real, Alborada and more recently Pasion, are not available as full length features in DVD versions. Alternatively, an abridged version that is produced with this goal may be excellent.
Unfortunately what is available to us is an edited version where specific scenes of the full length feature is sadly cut and pasted. Given the original scenes are part of a whole, the end result is a sad version with some characters or events missing that totally endanger the undestanding of the plot, breaking the original flux of events and characters. I wonder if the producers (especially Carla Estrada) would begin considering either a parallel production of a shorter version for the private collectors and home viewers, or releasing the original full length features, such as was done for La Antorcha Encendida and El Vuelo del Aguila. I would not recommend any abrdiged versions of Alborada done editing the original by cutting pieces of the scenes, or any of Carla Estrada's magnificent productions: there are no scenes, dialogues and characters that can be edited out!

Must Have, but a lot cut from original,
By
This review is from: Alborada (DVD)
This is a fabulous story. Watching the original on TV took 3 months and even with 4 DVDs there still was a lot cut. Wish they would create an un-cut version, I would pay twice the amount. Because of the cutting some of the story was confusing and some parts didn't make sence. Overall, still worth having even with all of the missing pieces.
