Editorial Reviews

This album by pianist Art Tatum and tenor saxophonist Ben Webster (assisted by bassist Red Callender and Bill Douglass on drums) is often called one of the milestones in recorded Jazz history. This CD reissue presents the album in it's entirety and adds bonus solo piano tracks from Tatum. Essential Jazz. 2006.

Great album featuring two masters of their art. Recently saw Woody Allen's film September which featured the music on this CD. Skip the maudlin movie(tho Elaine Stritch is great) and buy this CD. Both guys are in fine form, seemingly effortless with great feeling. Old school in the best sense.

5.0 out of 5 stars Without title, August 29, 2009

I'm so satisfied with the product. I'm a Brazilian jazz fan and I don't like to write a lot because I can't speak English very well, but I recommend this CD for people who like this style of jazz.

Different takes on different songs - an original approach to tunes, absolutely beautiful. Marvellous technique, a musician's musician.
