5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best POP Albums of 2003!
Alcazar makes great pop music, hell, call it disco music. The first cut on the album is called "I love the DJ" and Alcazar does. The songs are devilishly catchy without being too long or boring. The lyrics mirror the fun and irony of today's society and even "the last days of disco" without missing a beat. The albums takes a musical journey through...

2.0 out of 5 stars ICK-CAZARIZED?
This group's album,Casino, came out the gate heavy on the Velveeta, but the production was really enjoyable; someone was into kicking some butt on the dancefloor, and they sampled great stuff by Chic, Change, etc. This one sounds like someone pouring all the "right" elements into the production, and coming out with a bit of a mess. There are too many trite, throwaway tracks...

The albums takes a musical journey through the different stages of disco, from early sped up R&B music with "Funky Feet" to the final piece, and probably the best song on this album or any other album of 2003, "Someday." This song embodies the greatness of disco songs past while describing a perfect society where everyone gets along.
Get "Alcazarized" and enjoy this great POP/DISCO album of 2003!

5.0 out of 5 stars Alcazar: What American Pop Music Has Missed, June 20, 2005
This review is from: Alcazarized (Audio CD)
This LP, although consists of previously released material, is a grand pop effort. This post ABBA / Ace Of Base Swedish quartet leaves NOTHING to be desired within the faction of melodic music.
From the "Upside Down" by Diana Ross sampling, to the overtly original bass lines and synthesizer ticklings: The listener is enveloped by a plethora of POP goodness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Alcazar - disco pop at its best, September 24, 2005

Going beyond their first album, Casino, Alcazar rounds out its group to an even four with the addition of Magnus Carlsson (then-fiance of band member Andreas Lundstedt). Their lively dance beats are more than enough to make anyone want to get up and move. Following in the traditions of other Swedish super-groups, such as ABBA and Ace of Base, Alcazar (also an a-name, how peculiar...) brings together the old and the new, sampling songs from the '70s and '80s (the hey-days of disco) and mixing them into modern dance beats, along with original works.

A personal favourite on this album is the track 'Love Life,' one that'll make you turn up the volume and hit the 'loop' button.

This album is a must-have for any lover of dance and disco-pop. Be sure to include Casino and Alcazar's latest album, Dancefloor Deluxse (a greatest hits album including 3 new releases, and a previously unreleased version of 'Someday', the 2003 Stockholm Pride theme song).

5.0 out of 5 stars Alcazar does it again!, November 12, 2003
This review is from: Alcazarized (Audio CD)
Put on your discopants beacuase we're going dancing baby!
Alcazar's 2nd album "alcazarized" hits you back to the disco's of 80's and 70's with kind of magic that nobody nowdays can create. "I love the dj", "Menage a trois (huge hit in Finland!)",
I go shopping" and "Someday" makes you wanna dance again and again. "Celebrate the night" "Wonderland" and "Singing to heaven" are unbelievable catchy songs and singing to heaven almost makes me cry everytime i hear it.

This album is more than worth to buy.
It is classic and sure to become the most rememberable
album of all times!

ps. when you listen "i love the dj" rewind backward and you'll hear the "Dance with the dj song!
And after "Someday" rewind forward and you'll hear ablolutely amazing "Save my pride"

This, Alcazar's sophomore album improves on their debut album by less relience on R&B/Disco samples and more from original compositions. I was surprised to read in the album liner notes that the members of the Pet Shop Boys wrote the song, "Lovelife." It is quite a good song. My favourite songs include "I Go Shopping" which smartly samples the Chic song "What About Me", "Physical", "This Is The World We Live In" and completely original songs such as "I Love The DJ", the ABBA-esque Disco/Pop song song "Not A Sinner Nor A Saint", "Last Days Of Disco", "Celebrate The Night", "Someday", and "Singing To Heaven" which sounds if it the Donna Summer hit "Could It Be Magic" was part of the inspiration for the song. Overall, "Alcazarized" is a more satisfying album than "Casino." If you do not mind the fact these songs are not overtly lustful or hedonistic, then you will enjoy "Alcazarized" too!

2.0 out of 5 stars ICK-CAZARIZED?, April 27, 2009

This group's album,Casino, came out the gate heavy on the Velveeta, but the production was really enjoyable; someone was into kicking some butt on the dancefloor, and they sampled great stuff by Chic, Change, etc. This one sounds like someone pouring all the "right" elements into the production, and coming out with a bit of a mess. There are too many trite, throwaway tracks on the level of "I Love the DJ". Someone seems to have told the singers to "sound soulful" but they don't, and probably can't:they're beyond cute, like vanilla soda on overkill.Despite sampling Diana Ross's Upside Down, the lead single disappoints 'cause the lyric is leaden with lines like "These are the hands we're given". Far better is the so corny it's catchy "I Go Shopping," which is the real hit of the album; the lyric is sublimely inane. (I assume it was written by the same person who wrote Crying at the Discotech, which had some bizarre lines as well). This group can be fun, but they should bring back whoever produced the thumpin' Sexual Guarantee, and stop trying to sound so insufferably cute. The best disco has the faint scent of decadence, which is missing in this record.
