Book Description

December 23, 2007
Designed and written with care and respect for the ancient alchemists and for today's readers seeking positive change, this book reconstructs an age-old system of transformation dating back to Alexandria, Egypt, 200, A.D. This book translates the ancient metaphorical tradition of Alchemy - practiced by diverse cultures for millennia - into a meaningful and practical tool for self-discovery. Elaborate concepts, such as 'the coniunctio', dressed in mysterious images are edited into workable compositions that enable women to readily adopt these ancient and mystical concepts as their own. This interactive handbook gently guides the reader through the five alchemical stages - from Negredo to Rubedo - that are the foundation for THE GREAT WORK, the Philosopher's Stone, the elixir of life. It reveals potent formulas for dealing with all the aspects of the psyche - the shadow and the light.

Editorial Reviews

Review

The Alchemical Woman is more than the usual 'self-help' book on the shelf. Although this very interesting and somewhat mysterious compilation of past and present ideas and philosophies is organized in a linear stepping stones pathway, the actual use of this book's wisdom is more cybernetic in nature. It looks at womanhood (at any age and in any walk of life) as a whole and indivisible experience, with an ebb and flow through the dark times and the blinding light of fame and fortune. The Alchemical process seems to spiral back on itself - being present on all levels at all times, but with varying intensity depending on the development of the individual in a given set of circumstances. It's not to say the process is a closed loop that never finds the benefits of knowledge and experience. It is an ascending spiral taking the Soul worker to higher levels of experience at each encounter with herself. The work is written beautifully - almost poetically, with the benefit of real life stories of real women. It challenges the reader to write her own story - and then rewrite it with an exciting and engaging plot and a truly happy ending. A woman's story never really ends, as this book attests, so the reader will find herself authoring again and again. This of course, is the point the authors of The Alchemical Woman are making - that the process of alchemy on the internal plane lasts a lifetime with each challenge, relationship, change, crisis and celebration being the 'base metals' for turning her life into gold. The underlying assumption being that the exterior life of the woman will reflect the wealth of her internal life - turning poverty to riches on all levels of the integrated Alchemical Woman. --Susan Forster, artist, reader and woman

This book is not just a 'must read' , but one of those companion books that you return to time and time again when confusion clouds judgment and decision-making. Beautiful art and surprisingly easy to understand. --Elaine Kiernan, Financial Planner, Life Coach

5.0 out of 5 stars It really is for Every Woman, June 5, 2008
This review is from: The Alchemical Woman A Handbook for Everyday Soulwork (Paperback)
I got the book and proceeded to dive right into it. I completed reading it last night and I will share right now that I can envision this book in every woman's collection. One can simply start where they are, at whatever stage they might be in and gain insight, and inspiration. Each woman who takes on this book will be more informed about her authentic self.
She will be empoiwered with the ability to be mindful of her particular alchemical stage and embrace it to be able to move in and through- flowing....as women do.
Thank you so much for writing this splendid text!
Nessa

5.0 out of 5 stars The Alchemical Woman, July 22, 2008
This review is from: The Alchemical Woman A Handbook for Everyday Soulwork (Paperback)
The authors, Catherine Davidson, Ramona Rubio have written a book that all women can learn and experience in different ways, what their life is all about. I think the part that I liked the best was the explanation of some of the stages that I have already gone through. You never really know the reasons why when you are in the middle of these alchemical stages. When you now reflect back and see where you were then and get the understanding from this book, it is very empowering. Your end result of reading this book automatically places you ahead of the game of life. I highly recommend this book to women of all ages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sacred Feminine Path of Transformation, July 18, 2008
This review is from: The Alchemical Woman A Handbook for Everyday Soulwork (Paperback)
Ramona Rubio and Catherine Davidson have done a wonderful job of exemplifying the Sacred Feminine path of transformation. The "Alchemical Woman" speaks the language of the soul of women. Through story, myth, example, art, and poetry, it reached into my deep core, showing me a road map to the alchemical transformation of painful wounds. This road map can help us not to be seduced by the path of transcendence, the path of going "up and out". Instead, with the author's artistic and practical guidance, we are shown how to delve deep within ourselves. And by doing this, by going to the depths within, we are then led to the place where the brilliant gold treasure inside the shadow lays waiting to be discovered and nourished. Thank you for an aesthetically beautiful and practical tool for transformation.

~review by Dr. Jodine (Cognato) Turner, visionary fiction author of "The Awakening: Rebirth of Atlantis" and "The Keys to Remember"
